I see where you're coming from... unfortunately, not everyone has a large, air-conditioned facility to practice in. Rather than having people pass out from the summer heat, I don't think it's killing anyone to see them practice in sports bras. Anyone who ever went to NCA College Camp at UMASS back in the day would remember the extreme heat in that gym. I was extremely self-conscious about my body, but still ended up in a sports bra at that camp lol.
HATED that camp. And i got stuck in the elevator once there with like 15 girls. Not fun!

There cannot be ANY gym hotter than Top Gun Miami. 85 degrees King? That would be considered frigid! And parent section...yeah stand outside..that's the parent section..LOL. No garfields in Miami.

We call ours the fish bowl, haha.

And for the AC it is all what you are used to. I bet 85 up north would cause heat strokes!

You'd be required to give water breaks every so often, without question. I think we've had kids die at that heat, while outside for football? My mum had heat issues at one of my last comps at that temp (outside at Six Flags NE)..I get dehydrated easily so I have to keep water bottles in my hand at all times.

Of course. I think all gyms work the same way. We aren't that concerned about how comfortable it feels, but want to make sure you dont overheat and stay hydrated.

Truth. But I'd bet if you came up my way during winter you'd be bundled up so much you'd be waddling.. ;)

I LOVE the cold. Id move somewhere a lot colder if my wife would let me. She is from Chicago and she has absolutely no cold tolerance WHAT so ever.

Haha your right king, at HotCheer (Pittsburgh), it was the first day of summer and the kids (and coaches) couldn't take it, we had to put the air on to 75.

As Top Gun laughs at us for being wussies. 85? Thats practically Xmas weather. Try 105!

We arent well air conditioned. hah.

Well, I'm sure you have fans or windows or large doors you can open to cross-ventilate, right? lol

I'm talking in the 90-105 range... when it gets like that, they almost have to be in sports bras... too hot for living!

I would not suggest practicing at all if the temperature is 100-105. I know at WC they closed in previous summers when it got TOO hot. And as far as the difference in wearing a sports bra as opposed to a longer thin tank in 90 degree weather...one is really not going to be THAT much cooler than the other. So the heat is not really a deciding factor IMO. I just think covering up when you are a teenage girl in a facility where there are many men on staff is appropriate. Not saying if you wear a sports bra, it is wrong, but the temperature does not have any bearing on why the kids at Rays wear tanks or t-shirts....at least I don't think so. I believe it is more of just personal preference on the part of the owner and director. I am sure King can correct me if I am wrong on that.

You have over 700 athletes. When people ask for late tryouts, do you usually accept? I know teams like Cheer Athletics had 700 tryout this year and they couldn't let anyone else tryout, that's why I'm wondering.

My daughters High School team practices in a gym with no AC and they always have. It's like death in there but they are use to it and they wear either tank tops or t-shirts. They keep bottled water in refrigerators and the girls get many of them throughout practice. It doesn't bother me to see kids practice in sports bra's if that's what your gym allows, we just haven't experienced that where we have cheered so the kids are use to it. The only time I am bothered by seeing kids walking around in sports bra's is at competitions, I just don't like it, but it won't make me think less of someone or their gym because it's not my place to accept it or judge it :)
