My daughter (Senior 5 at age 13) quit all star 2 days ago much to much shock. the school already heard - and she will probably be able to do 9th rather than 8th next year. But they don't do a lot of stunting until HS. She's an amazing flyer. I can keep up her tumbling by taking her to a gymnastics place 2x a week, but how do I keep up her flying skills for a year? She says no way will she lose them since HS won't do level 5 stunts (our HS doesn't have a competition team yet -but hoping to start this year). Thank you.

my daughter is doing the same, like you I worry about her losing her level 5 skill.

Ellen!! OH my gosh.... It's Maria Patrick, PAC member.

Kelsy, my 9th grader, left all-star also this year and went to high school cheer. She had to try it. They tumble and she wasn't a level 5 tumbler, she was only level 3, but has already moved into level 4 tumbling. Keep her in tumbling classes! In high school, only one girl needs the skill to throw it. You don't have to wait for 19 more to perform it.

Congratulations!

Hi Maria! Zoe is already enrolled in master gymnastic classes 2 x a week. But what about her flying? Our HS doesn't have competition team YET -but they want to. She's a level 5 tumbler - tho I don't think throwing a full on a gym floor is smart... Worlds was what we waited for - and finally S5 and boom.

This has nothing to do with the topic, but I wanted to say kudos to you, ellen495 for letting your cp make her own choices and supporting her, even though it's clearly hard for you too.

Some allstar gyms do stunting classes maybe try that. Or you can contact a local company like NCA, Cheersport or a local college and get her a private partner stunt person to work with her. That is what I reommend for my seniors who want to cheer in college.

My 14 year old daughter did the same thing. She is a level 5 tumbler and flyer. It was so hard on me, but not so much on her :) Her high school team is competitive, but I don't know how the flying will be. She stretches each day to maintain flexibility. I think that's one of the most important things. As someone else suggested, you may want to enroll her in flying classes at your gym. Good luck!
