All-Star Restricting Tumbling To Your All Star Gym Only??

The more I read this post, the more I realize this is a business move by a small gym. It's not about safety (although I agree with the numerous comments about tumbling at home not being ideal.) People have the right to decide how they spend their money. No one is going to tell me what grocery to shop at, what car to buy unless they are paying for it.

I see kids come into my daughter's gym just to tumble from various well known programs from all over the country all the times. The coaches don't attempt to recruit, the kids come for various reason, (i.e. get different perspectives on their tumbling, to work out with their friends, to work out at with the coaches, etc). If I choose to take my kids somewhere else to improve her tumbling, why should the gym care? The end result is that I'm making her better therefore her team and the gym are stronger and better. As I said in my earlier post, sometimes kids need a different perspective.

Gym owners should be more concern with building an atmosphere that inspires loyalty, The big gyms don't always win, and I'm sure they lose some very talented kids to other programs from time to time but for the most part they have figured out how to build an environment for kids that builds loyalty to the program from both parent and the kid. When I read the original email that started this thread, my initial reaction was disbelief that a business owner would dare to publish something with that tone. Pro athletes have their own personal coaches that are not part of their pro team. Why is this gym putting restrictions on their kids and most importantly why are they attempting to tell a customer how they can spend their money?

You DONT have cheer at ECN ya know...you can spend your money how you want. Just somewhere else.

What I wonder is for people without a lot of options..sorta in the vein of 'Not having a gym that fits their needs..' I know with CT, once you start getting into upper levels your options for gyms kinda shrinks unless you are willing to compete lower. What do you do if you disagree with a gyms policy..sometimes it's not as feasible as saying 'Just don't cheer there'..

*Not saying I disagree with any gym in CTs policy ('cause I don't know them). I just know we're a small state with not a ton of gyms :D

My question.. is this a common practice amongst gyms? How do you handle this situation, if your athletes live far away & tumble elsewhere during the week? Your thoughts? GO!

To: IDENTITY DELETED TO SPARE "IMMEDIATE DISMISSAL"
Subject: Important Please Read
This is a mass email going out to all members of the Nitro Nation.
There is to be absolutely NO tumbling at any other gym if your are on a Nitro team. This has been a policy in our handbook since day one. This is for safety reasons. We do not know what these instructors at other locations are teaching and if they are going in safe progression according to the USASF rules and guidelines.
Year after year the Nitro program produces quality tumbling in a safe and progressive manner.
Failure to comply will result in IMMEDIATE DISMISSAL from the Nitro organization.
This is the only warning being given.

Basically they don't want them to go to another gym and see how the environment is different from yours and go to that other gym. Hence a lot of lvl 5 nitro kids go to another gym not saying the name ,but royal and lime are the colors, to get privates from the instructors to help them with tumbling and get there running fulls.

Such a shame that we are witnessing a gym crumble in-front of our eyes...

haha This is so true.

I have to agree, and they are not only going to that gym for lessons - I'm sure they are at a host of local facilities trying to get and better themselves.

What I find strange is that this particular gym offers an open gym on Fridays that is open to everyone however it is supervised and not spotted. If they are so concerned about safety why would they not instruct.

I totally read this on there website earlier!! I was like hmm you certainly don't mind other kids coming in but yours can't go no where! Smh

Well that answers my question I asked in my post. Now do they still want to try and use the "safety" excuse? If so I want to throw out a little word that starts with an H.

I know it, I know it - I'd like to solve for 1,000$

Hypocrite

OMG someone get me on wheel of fortune!

I cheer for Nitros, but I tumble with a gymnastics instuctor who works and Nitros and at our local YMCA. Am I breaking this rule? Or is it okay because he works for the Nitros?

Wouldn't it be ok because he works for nitros?
