for a second there I thought you were gonna say all teams should go to finals..
I actually do kind of agree with the 3 rounds thing the more I think about it, I just feel that it took more time? I may be wrong

oh no I would never say that, but I just think that every team should compete in prelims. I think it would give worlds even more notoriety than it already has. To me it would have a March Madness type feel.

A team that can grind out 3 impressive routines in 3 days, handle the emotional and physical demands on the body, and will still be standing is a true world champion....they deserve to have some diamonds put in those rings.

I like 10 in finals, but from purely a spectator point of view having all finals in the milk house might be a problem. The milk house cannot possibly accommodate the total crowd and the problem that we experience during large senior could turn into an all day problem! Think of the spectator numbers (you'd have the typical crowd of past years, plus all the teams, friends and families of those not competing in finals trying to get into the milk house!)

im 100% against all teams in milkhouse for finals. Maybe if they spread everything out it wont be that bad. Each division could have an hour in between. May free up some space for those that are there for just 1 division.

Next, what other sports give people a free pass in a world championship type of competition. I don't know anything like a Worlds Competition or Olympics where you don't have to compete in the first round to qualify

My opinion is that winning a paid bid is enough reward in and of itself. You get a big chunk of your way to Worlds paid. I don't see the need to also try to give them a competitive advantage once they arrive in Orlando.

Every team should be treated equally once they arrive. Note that this also means that I disagree with determining finalists by which part of the globe your gym is located. Once the event starts, judging should disregard the name on the uniform or the address of the gym.

I agree with @BlueCat I feel like once your at worlds you should be treated all the same. Not all at large bids are so bad off as some people make it seem. Take Orlando Angels for instance they just missed out on getting a paid bid this year, and did go on a at large, but they still placed top 5 beating out some teams that correct me if I am wrong had recieved a full paid bid. Then theres also Cheer Corp Generals from small senior that placed 10th in small senior on a at large bid also.

I am sure that they beat out several paid bids, but they actually finished 6th. Many at-larges have beaten paids. That is a pretty common occurrence.

Out of curiosity, what are people's opinions of coaches copying a pyramid and then using it to compete against that same division later in the same season?

Not at all, I'm sure 99% of this board would not understand the reference.

haha fyi as one of the 1% that gets it i'm dying laughing right now.

I like the everyone prelims 50% semis top 10 (or 3 or w/e) in finals idea.

I somewhat agree with @BlueCat about disregarding the name of the uniform, location of the gym, but I do agree with the 3 from each country, they do the same sort of thing in gymnastics (don't jump on me about this not being gymnastics), regardless of scores, only a certain amount of athletes from each team (in Olympic and Worlds case, country) are allowed to go into event finals, it prevents a supposed WORLD competition from becoming completely taken over by one country. Now, looking at IOC and IOAG 5 this year, there were multiple teams from other countries that would've placed top 10 even without the "only 3 from each country rule", so maybe if that rule is made in the senior divisions, it will only be a matter of 2-3 seasons before it's made in the international divisions as well.

Competing for your country (like Olympic gymnastics) is precisely what the ICU competition is for. That is country vs. country and should be set up that way. USASF Worlds is about private club teams competing against each other. It is Top Gun vs. California All Stars, not Mexico vs. New Zealand. Where those gyms are located should not affect the competition.

I see where you're coming from.
I had this conversation with my friend once, and I think my final point was basically that, if these teams from other countries are continually being outshone(is that a real word?) by American teams, there is almost no incentive to go to Worlds. Obviously it hasn't deterred them, but going to finals is such an amazing experience in and of itself for these athletes who are in countries where cheer has only existed for maybe 5 years. Worlds would just turn into yet ANOTHER national competition, as it basically already is in the club divisions.
I'm not trying to argue here, I do agree that the allstar portion of Worlds needs to be team vs. team, not country-based, just thinking about potential for teams to stop attending.

just saying when i read that i immediately thought of tsunami (even though that was 4 routines in 2 days).. okay continue:)

How many foreign teams attend worlds each year? and how many actually place top 3?

i still think the foreign teams would go to worlds regardless of what place they got. ive seen a lot of teams come each year and not even make finals. i think the babying of foreign teams need to stop. i think a lot of foreign teams would step up their game if they knew they had to go against everyone to make finals.
