I dont think this has been posted because I've searched it in the bar. But what skills (stunting and tumbling wise) would be needed to completely max out level 3? I looked at the USASF rules and they made no sense to me lol :)

This is a question that asks for a TON of information, but without getting into inversions, pyramids, etc. You need as many running passes to tucks as possible, as many jumps to multiple back handsprings as possible, series standing back handsprings, etc. for tumbling. For stunts: single leg, extended stunts, full down cradles from two legged extensions, creative transitions, etc. Baskets...I like a variety of full twisting tosses as well as pike tosses, pretty girl tosses, nice high toe touch tosses, etc. Again...there is almost too much to try to list here. Don't even get me started on pyramids cuz that is just too much LOL! Good luck,

gahhh maxing out pyramids in level 3 i think is impossible.... for example
our junior 3 does
2 full twisting front flip overs (ever see those in level 3 before) two power press tic tocs (actual releases not fakies) two released backflips (like level 4 but one of the bracers is on the ground) and two front flip releases (like level 4 but one bracer is on the ground)
highest pyramid difficulty score was the range +.6 except at cheersport regionals where we got 19/20 i want to believe.
but with a small team doing 8 skills at max difficulty, with 6 of the skills not normally seen in level 3, the front fulls which most people don't even realize are legal in level 3, and .6 for the score? its kinda frustrating. I think next year we are going to do the same old tired level 3 skills that score well but aren't as difficult, are definitely boring.

  • max out standing tumbling by doing backhandspring step out round off backhandspring tucks.
  • max out running with combo passes ending in tucks
  • max out jumps with doubles or triples connected to 2 to 3 backhandsprings
  • max out baskets by doing fulls
  • too many to list on ways to max out stunts, but the basics are full from 2 legs and hit 3 body positions. 360's and half ups are also good ways to max points
  • also way too many ways to max out pyramids but double based release moves and braced inversions at or below shoulder level
  • maxing out dance with at least 3 formation changes and lots of levels and ripples

do you have a team video at a competition?

our level 3 maxed out on standing tumbling last year with cartwheel tucks, and also toe 2 bhs stepout ro bhs tucks. creative transitions throughout the routine could be the difference between 1st and second. judges are looking for new exciting things now that all levels are basically expected to impress as much as lvl 5 worlds team as far as transitions go. Goodluck!

Cartwheel tucks are illegal at level 3. They are considered a version of a standing tuck.

i can asure you that cartwheel tucks will be LEGAL with in the next few yrs to come LOL! something tells me..

im having some of my standing tumbling be entered by a back ext. or back wlk over. probably both eventually..

I always thought cartwheel tucks were level 4? @cheerinfo what do you say?

Cartwheel back tucks are NOT legal in level 3. Not until level 4:

A. Flips

1.Back Flips may ONLY be performed in tuck position only from a round off or round off back handspring(s).

That is from the Level 3 running tumbling section of the rules.

Legalities don't impact how things are scored. Cartwheel tucks are categorized one way for legality purposes. A company may score them in level 4 a different way.

As for maxing out stunts - 1/2 up to the top, full up immediate to prep, switch up to prep, tick tock to prep, level appropriate inversions with twisting.

i feel like this level stunting and level 4 are SO much alike besides the whole fulling down from one leg and doubling from 2. not a fan of level 3 at all
