I do like TSU, but I had a really hard time paying attention to skills because the darn stunt choreography was so distracting and annoying. Coaches: PLEASE change it to something more unified and synchronized.

One of my biggest pet peeves is when a team performs 6 billion different elite skills, but only 2 or 3 stunt groups perform each. I'm sure I could make a level 5 team have 2 stunt groups hit full up immediates, 2 hit pancakes, 2 hit high low tocks, etc. What I'd like to see from Tsu is at least 2 elite skills performed by every stunt group at the same time. Enough with this hiding stuff.

Well when you coach at TSU I'm sure they will be open to your suggestions. Also, you are free to coach a team in their division and compete against them. I personally am not a huge fan of the "highlight" stunt phenomenon that is sweeping the "cheer world" however it works. The TSU coaches aren't stupid so I am sure there is a method to their madness, I ask that we all respect coaches decisions, thanks.

You took this the wrong way and I would appreciate it if you don't look for the worst in people. Not everyone is trying to tear a team down. Please note that I started my post with "I do like TSU." I have always been a Tsunami fan. In fact, I even proudly wear my Tsu shirt.

Now also reread my post and notice that I do point out that I dislike Tsu's stunt sequence. However, when I continue on I describe one of my GENERAL pet peeves for choreography. I was not accusing the Tsunami coaches of not knowing how to coach and I was also not questioning their decisions. Absolutely NO WHERE did I call the Marlins coaches stupid. Please do not put words in my mouth.

I'm glad your a fan! I wish you would represent yourself as a better one and support the program instead of look for flaws.

I know that some people are still saying this is early but I question when you cut off when "early" stops? You have teams like SOT, CA, and Twist and Shout that have gone out and competed already all while hitting their routines pretty well and having a ton of difficulty. Like I said in another thread (it got deleted I think) it confuses me why a gym would sign up for a competition when they know they will have only had their routine for a few weeks and they have to fake skills. If you don't have a complete routine or one that you can go out and do all of the skills (whether you drop some or not) then don't sign up for competitions in December. I don't really pay attention to excuses of it is early because they knew they had a competition and could have had their routine more down pat then faking all the skills that they did. If you are going to compete in Decemeber or even November don't wait until 2 weeks before you competition to get a routine, schedule it early so you have time.

I am in no way saying that this is a bad routine, I can't judge the routine itself until I see a front view. Many are just shocked that so many of the skills were faked at a BID competition. If you have had your routine for 2 weeks and have to fake that many skills then don't sign up for that competition unless you are ready for others to call you out on it.

I really didn't want to get in this thread, but I can tell you that when all the groups do go up they will all eventually be doing the same thing. Right now, some can hit different parts consistently enough that they watered down different parts for different groups. The intention of the sequence will be for them all to completing the same skills, MAYBE with a ripple in it, and maybe like last year where a transition could be different. The coaches didn't assign a different skill to each group. :)

The trend seems to be that the Southern and mid-teams start competing more than a month before the east coast teams. This is "early" for most east coast teams. A lot of teams in this area do not even have finalized rosters until November because switches are being made and new kids are being added.

This is good to hear. I'm looking forward to seeing the finalized stunt sequence.

PS: Loved their stunt sequence last year because there was variety and also consistency. Transitions were different but they all performed high-high-tocks, etc. Hoping to see something similar this season.

I hear what you are saying, and I hear you, but there are many reasons as to why a team might compete this early. I for one am not their coach, I'm not here to make excuses for anyone, I just don't see why people get on here and pour out all this negativity!? I mean there could be any number of reasons why they had mistakes as well as why they competed. I think January is when the major comps start (not saying that bid comps aren't early) But I feel everyone looks better starting in Jan. If your looking better in Nov/Dec then I feel you are ahead of the curve! I just hate that KIDS read their team being BASHED on here.

you really can't hide kids from it, this is nothing new and i'm sure most kids that have been on a senior 5 team have heard worse than soemone not likeing their routine. Everyone on teams are going to hear negativity whether it's people hating on uniforms or their new music or thier routine. There have been plenty of times I've wanted to type a nasty comeback to someone...but i just have to take a deep breath and let it go.

So saying that its gonna happen anyway makes it right? I'm very similar to you in that I've kept my mouth shut a lot, I'm done biting my tongue when others want to use the boards as a "bash site". I don't feel like this should be the place where CHILDREN should "learn to deal with negativity"

And here is my 2 cents from a previous thread, which some did not understand. COACHES: Negativity towards teenage athletes should not be posted from former coaches, or any coaches for that matter. So for those of you who are industry professionals, please think before you post. If you have an issue with coaching, there is a separate forum for this subject matter.

good lord nevermind...post away....:banghead:
and for the record...please quote where i said saying it is gonna happen anyway makes it right

Everybody remember this is a Cheer Tech competition where the main thing is deductions. Normal steps after tumbling are even deducted.

Although I haven't seen a video, I heard one of the paid bid winners had barely 50% jump to backs performed possibly due to those deductions.
