Is this a new decision? I also thought all levels got leather jackets at Cheersport. If it is a change, ouch. More fuel for the "only higher level teams matter" fire.
Then my next question would be is there is difference in registration fee for level 5 & 6 athletes? Not going to jump to conclusions but I will say gyms go to this comp year after year bcuz they really want to win that jacket, and since about 800 of the 900 teams are not level 5 this probably won't be received very well. Hope it's a REALLY nice fleece...

Levels 1-4 have gotten a different jacket as long as I can remember (at least a decade). Always very nice though.

Level 5 (and 6 but not positive) and special needs get the leather sleeved jackets and levels 1-4 always got a heavy material (kind of like a tweed) jacket, but last year there was a mix of both those and the fleece jackets, (I am guessing they were just getting rid of what they had left for the heavier level 1-4 jackets) so I figured they would go to all fleece jackets this year for levels 1-4. I don't think they look as "prestigious" and look more like most of the other jackets/sweatshirts from any other comp, but I guess for the winners who live in warmer climates they make more sense. They are still very nice jackets and between the jackets and individual medals and banners and trophies Cheersport still does it right with awards!

I know this didn't start till 2005 maybe 2004. In 2003 I know that everyone got a purple pull over type jacket, even the level 5's (except there were no "levels" back then - it was "advanced"). In the years before that each team got jackets a month or so after the competition that were in their gyms or schools colors. It was the same set up for all "levels" (so intermediate and advanced). I liked that personally.

SMH at myself now because I still have that jacket shoved in a closet somewhere and should have remembered that. I think you're right and it was '04 when the switch started.

I was reading in the coaches packet that lower level teams get fleece jackets, I have only ever seen the leather cheersport jacket, does anyone have a picture?

CHEERSPORT awards leather sleeved jackets to our National Champions in Level 5, Level 6 and Special Needs. All other National Champions receive a “fleece” jacket. We have awarded National Champion Jackets this way for the past 8 years. The reason we do this is to provide a little “tip of our hat” to the athletes that have reached the highest levels of our sport. The cost of the different jackets isn’t a consideration because there is a minimal cost difference. Like virtually every decision CHEERSPORT makes, we have continually surveyed our customers about this and the overwhelming majority like this policy once they understand why we do it this way. Thanks for giving us an opportunity to explain.

i've been refreshing my screen every hour for two days just checking to see if they posted it earlier like some other comps do. and i was hoping they would since they posted the parents/coaches info earlier than stated. so i never should have said anything on FB about maybe it getting posted earlier. so...i think i jinxed us!

ive been 3 years and they have never posted it early. id rather them take their time to make sure its right then post it early. with that many teams they need all the time and patience they can get
