beautyy4cheerr would you mind pointing out where ACEDAD said level 6 athletes have died doing a routine?

ASCheerMan I'm sorry your not a fan of the fierce board, sometimes an anonymous 14 year old and a computer are a terrible combination and give the rest of us a bad name.

"There have probably only been a handful of teams over the last several years that could safely and cleanly perform the skills anyway.

I think there is way too much risk with zero benefit in having them." - ACEDAD

one can INSINUATE that he believes that lots of athletes have gotten severely injured on the mat during a Level 6 routine from the context clues in what he typed. all the way to the point where the level should be "eliminated"? -_____-

lol. okay.

and right. because I'M "14". i'm actually a college sophomore which has been established numerous times and maybe you are illiterate seeing as how my own profile says that I am indeed 19. at least i have the courage to post my actual picture and not a picture of SOCRATES as my AVI. so who really is the impostor? lol so hypocritical.

The reference to my 'not being a fan' is a bit harsh. My poor opinion is actually about message boards in general. Society tends to believe that anything they read on the internet is the truth. Giving certain people this type of platform to speak their mind can be dangerous and damaging But again, that's ALL message boards, NOT the Fierceboards specifically.

I actually think there are plenty of benefits of the Boards--mainly because the moderators go out of their way to control some of the information flow and take responsibility for the Fierceboard's role in the industry. For me, it's another mode to reaching a target audience. And in many cases, I can use it as a way to measure the pulse of what our customers are feeling. Their perception may not be accurate or based in truth, but perception = reality.

and that's why I GATHERED you meant about your perception about the Fierceboard. that it was in a more general sense and that it was an opinion you came up with over time. not because of one specific poster posted something minutes after you in disagreement in ONE instance. -____-

some people...

but i digress.

:]

lol because so many athletes have died on the mat and crashed and burned during a Level 6 routine. so. many.

-_________________-

no offense, but thank goodness you are not in charge of all things Cheerleading then :p you sound very bias to me.

my reasons for why Level 6 should definitely stay are way more than the Fierceboard has space for. and some reasons are just PLAIN OBVIOUS. it's ludicrous that i would even HAVE to explain them in the first place.

smh...

ANYWAY'S,

i did ask WHY the Level 6's were shoved elsewhere than the Arena where they deserve to be so thank you ASCheerMan for answering the question. it sounds logical enough but that doesn't mean i have to agree.

but once again, logical. thanks for ANSWERING the question since I was very appalled to here that they weren't in the Arena...

I don't have exact statistics on athletes killed or hurt in level 6, but I know people that likely do. I can get it if needed.

And even when you say "no offense", it doesn't mean you can just say whatever you want afterwards. No, I'm not in charge of all things Cheerleading. But if I was, I think I would do a decent job.

Not sure what bias you think I have? I would love to have you detail that. Does having an opinion different than yours count as bias?

Finally, kingston has plenty of hard drive space, so feel free to provide your opinions on why level 6 should stay around. I'll be interested in reading.

NCA was fantastic this year! Everything ran almost perfectly on time. No time wasting going on. Teams went on and off in a quick manner and everything looked AWESOME! NCA is the BEST and I wish worlds was like the arena. I was thinking of how small the milkhouse (or whatever it is called now) is compared to the arena (and after so many seat views are blocked by the judges table it becomes even worse). The Worlds staff really needs to take some lessons from NCA. Best competiton venue and set up ever :)

Though it may seem like it, I'm not sure the Arena holds that many more people when set up for cheer.

I believe you meant "infer", not "insinuate"....

in·sin·u·ate/inˈsinyo͞oˌāt/

Verb:
  1. Suggest or hint (something negative) in an indirect and unpleasant way.
  2. Maneuver oneself into (a position of favor or office) by subtle manipulation: "she insinuated herself into management".
in·fer/inˈfər/

Verb:
Deduce or conclude (information) from evidence and reasoning rather than from explicit statements.

As for you being a college sophomore, they inferred that you were 14 based upon your accusatory and "teenage" writing style.

As being one of the few coaches who has coached every level (I was an assistant on a Level 1 for half a year to help my wife out two years ago on Junior 1 so I will give myself a little leeway on that one) I think I have a decent opinion on this.

While I love college and level 6 it is just not mature enough in the all-star world to have this high level of competition as all the other Worlds levels do. I also understand the coaches aspect (my open team has 14 coaches on it... though most are level 1-3 coaches) so anything that helps out coaches compete and get to their teams is much appreciated. Until you have to compete AND coach at a competition it is hard to appreciate how insanely draining and hard it is.

I do not think level 6 should go away, but open level 4 should be allowed. As athletes graduate out of the club level they have no where to go but open level 5 and level 6. Level 5 is insanely difficulty to be competitive and Level 6, while harder skills, is a lot easier because of the lack of maturity. There is more injuries in college and level 6 because of a lack of lower levels so that people can keep competing (outside of NCA College's Intermediate which is quite popular). Add an open Level 4 (no they don't go to Worlds) and this would add a lot of opportunity for gyms and a safe haven for older athletes.

I loved everything about the Arena this year except the sound. All my kids (hah I just called the 30 year olds on my open team kids) said the floor was earily quiet. I know my ears hurt just listening. We had the computer with music turn down iTunes one notch (100% to 95%) and that helped the music sound not blown out. I would recommend a more heavily shielded cable from that computer (it was laying over the power cable and had a hiss while playing) as well as the computer output being at 75% and do all the 'turning it up' on the floor. I did not have any teams in the halls but from watching our other levels I felt like their sound was comfortable to listen to.

I would like a computer monitor behind the stage listing all the teams that have yet to compete in order and who is competing currently. Keeping my kids focussed and knowing exactly how long we have before we compete is a tough task. Knowing how many teams allows you to just plan what all you need to go through backstage.

I think the L6 debate probably belongs in a different topic.

We also had teams complain about the sound levels on the floor. It seemed VERY loud where we were standing to watch, but I believe the athletes when they say they could barely hear their cues and counts. I didn't notice any stage monitors or speakers aimed at the floor, which struck me as a bit odd.

I really like the idea of a computer monitor listing the teams ahead of you. It could even be set up to list estimated time left until performance for each team. You could likely even set it up to list ALL halls/arenas at once on one display and have that displayed in various locations throughout the competition area. To be most helpful, it would need to be updated if/when performance venues got ahead/behind.

reminds me of an airport ;) though i agree with you and kingston I actually love the idea. While I am no longer competing, that is something I always wish we had. I like to know exactly how long I have to be back there

Easy to do. If the average time it takes for a team to compete and the next team to go just put next to each team on the list:

Competing Now: Top Gun
@3 min: Cheer Athletics
@6 min: SOT
@9 min: Shooting Stars
@12 min: Stingray Allstars

Haven't been to NCA yet (i stress yet, our gym is only 3 years old so we're growing our schedule with our athletes) but I ADORE this idea for all competitions. Cheersport puts it up on the screens for the arena who's up, on deck and in the hole (which as a parent I love, it's easier than trying to find my place in the printed schedule) it should be just as easy to do backstage for the athletes.

Oh, and I have something for CHEERSPORT as well. They need to hand banners out in the walkway that are perpendicular to the stage. This way it would be easy to see when walking which Arena or Hall or whatever they are called is where. Having to get TO the stage to see which stage is which is highly inefficient.
