I cant imagine that the coaches of the VA gym only kept 2 teams.....We were told that all of the Va program would be competing with some of our teams at a comp next week, so I guess we will see then....

I heard this weekend it was only their top 2 teams that continued on and the other teams dissolved? Does anyone know which teams continued and which dissolved?

Hate to be the gloom here, but one more gym in VA? There are so many already, even in the NoVA/DC area. I worry that programs that have worked so hard to build a great rep up there like Infinity will loose kids to this big name program. Do you guys notice that happening when a big name program opens it's door nearby? It didn't happen with Cheer Extreme in Richmond, but who knows...

To clarify, during our switch, I'm proud to say we didn't lose a single athlete. All teams level 1-5 from the VA gym will be finishing out the season with Cheersport (March 31) and Return to Atlantis. Looking forward to completing the season on a good note and then for big things to come next season!

But I really feel like there's plenty of room in VA. I think very few from our area would actually drive to NoVA, even if it's Twisters. And you're correct, didn't happen with CEA Richmond. We have great gyms here and I think this can only promote the sport and suck more families into this thing of ours...

A new gym wouldn't open. An old one would just switch names.

Well, I can see your point but that's not entirely correct. Twisters in Virginia will be run at the same level that Glen Burnie and now Waldorf is. The entire staff is BEYOND excited to have the opportunity to be retrained as a Twisters coach to deliver the same product seen from the Maryland locations. Expectations and abilities will be much higher with the new program and will be handled the same way Waldorf is with Glen Burnie coaches coming down weekly to overlook the team's progress and mentor the kids/staff.

Old gym-new name applies this year. But certainly not when next season arrives.

Right, but my statement was in response to someone's complaint that another gym would be opening in VA. I was simply stating that another gym wouldn't be opening. Instead, an already established gym would just be switching over to being a part of another program.

That's good! I was surprised when I heard that. Rumors!

I just got an email saying that this is almost finalized:

Hello from MD Twisters! We are nearing the final stages of securing our new VA home. We have spent a lot of time narrowing down the locations to find the BEST place for our athletes. We are shooting to open our facility in Manassas mid-May with a Grand Opening and tryouts!

We are very excited to branch into the VA market with a new space, new name & some new staff. As we finalize our transition, we will be providing more details as they unfold.

Thank you for your patience! More details to follow soon!

I'm so excited for this - I've lived in Maryland for the past five years but have been too far away from their locations for my daughter to be a part of their organization. It is funny that, since we're moving to Virginia this summer, she will now have the opportunity to be a Maryland Twister (although the "new name" part of the email makes me wonder if they'll be called "Virginia Twisters"?)
