All-Star 2011 Worlds Bids Vs 2012 Worlds Bids

The "Paid" bids are simply checks given the gyms. The gyms turn around and pay this to USASF.
OH! So the EPs don't work directly with the USASF to pay for their "paid" teams. Gotcha...that makes sense

I don't see the point in limiting the AL-bids! If the USASF doesn't have a problem with it then, why should anyone else? Just b/c a team gets an AL bid doesn't mean they have to take it or use it. And just because a team doesn't get a paid bid doesn't mean they shouldn't be able to compete at Worlds or that they aren't good enough to compete w/the so called other top teams! EVERY TEAM IS BEATABLE! Just because a team doesn't look ready for Worlds at a certain competition, doesn't mean they can't step thier game up and bring it once they get there!

I'm certain the amount of slots given is definitely revenue driven. Limiting those slots would most likely drive up the cost and I definitely do not want to pay more then i 'm already paying! If ppl think it's to many teams well better plan your day to see the teams you want to see.
No amount of planning (or arriving early) lets 10,000 people sit in 3,500 seats. The venue is not big enough to host the event. More people want to see the "big" teams than there are places to sit.

When Paid bids can be gotten just by going to the "right comps" or by using a large amount of crossovers who won't be on the floor with that team come Worlds, that means some of the teams with At Large bids from earlier or more competitive comps may actually be more of a threat than some of those with the Paid bids. ((( In other words---- I totally agree with you that EVERY team is beatable and that you can't judge a team based on one performance or bid)))

That's w/most events a that have high profile teams! Look at NCA everyone trying to get into the arena! Cheersport, even BAC, which was a lot better this year.

World's isn't about everyone though. It is about an end of the year meeting of the best of the best. I think quite a few teams are already considering not going because of the AT Large in Small Small and Small Coed competing on Friday. I would say all At Large's have to compete on Friday next year.

Love the idea of all at large bid winners competing on Friday. It takes me back to the days off prelims, semi finals, and finals!

Does anyone else think it seems weird to have a division with only 7 teams like large AG. Just like the opposite argument of having to many teams in a division shouldn't there be a minimum as well? I do think all at large should compete on Friday.

I am still of the opinion that once Worlds starts, everyone should be on the exact same playing field. In other words, your gym's zip code, country of origin, uniform color, how far you flew to get there, and/or reputation should count for zilch.

There should NOT be a bye through the first round for paid bids. Your reward for getting a paid bid was the check that the event producer handed you. That is plenty.

There should NOT be quotas by country to determine finalists. The top scores should make finals regardless of where your gym is located. The 4th highest scoring team should go to finals ahead of the 50th highest scoring teams. This is particularly true because this a gym vs. gym competition and NOT a country vs. country one. If you want to represent your country, then get there early and do the ICU competition.

They should NOT keep trying to re-weight the score sheet to try to favor one set of countries over another. If you can't tumble well yet, then practice tumbling - don't beg to have the scoring changed to give yourself a shortcut. Worlds should be about who has the most talented, well-balanced team - not who has the most political pull.

How we you handle not having the minimum number of teams? Require them to combine divisions? They could combine Medium and Large and have 26 in one division, some how I don't think that would be very popular. But if the score sheets are properly weighted based on number of participants, should be no reason not to combine... (I am just playing devil's advocate here ;), I think USASF has committed to having all 3 divisions at worlds at least for this year?)

I'm curious as to how a maximum amount of bids in a division could or would work. Wouldn't this require EPs to use the same scoresheet and weights and all that in order to compare them to one another? So something like, the top 20 teams scoring wise during the season would go to Worlds and then they'd duke it out down there. But I'm not sure how paid/at-large bids would factor into something like this.

Definitely combine divisions. If you can only come up with 7 teams good enough to make it in that division, then it is to small.

The more I think about it, it would be such a simple solution and wouldn't that be a great event to watch Panthers, SE, Stars, F5, Fame, Tsu, WE, etc... all compete for the world championship.

If only the USASF/IASF thought the same way that you do. The International divisions bother me more then anything about worlds. Instead of making it fair they have given teams that shouldn't be in finals a free ride because they are the only team there from their country. There is no way some of those teams should walk away with a top 10 trophy when there are US teams that were 10x better that never got to finals.
