I can't believe y'all are practicing already! We don't have tryouts til the end of April!!

can someone give me an example of what an inversion is?

Anytime your head and shoulders go below your waste/hips. A cartwheel or backwalk over in or out of a stunt or a backtuck or front tuck in a pyramid, etc would all be examples of inversions. Hope that helps!

thanks would what they do at 1:22 be considered an inversion?

Yes the head and shoulders go below the waist, if you wanted to make it legal under the new rules you would have to do that at shoulder height or below I think. I think it would fall under 2-5-5 in the rules above. Anyone else can chime in here...but that's the way I understand them.

Thank you! it kinda worries me that some of these things are becoming legal in high school, there are plenty that could do them with no problem but then there are also a lot that cant

I don't know that they are going to spell out x is legal and y is legal but z is not. I think because they were making these consessions to allow for more creativity, they'll just leave it as the above and post videos about doubles that are no longer legal. I could be wrong but that's my thinking.

I've been watching allstar routines and taking things that I see there and applying them to the rules to see where they fit. I'm a judge so I'm trying to practice so to speak for next year's judging.

Brandon Black's stunt sequence where there girls flip backward onto a new set of bases. As they perform it is illegal but if you had a base and backspot move with the girl I think it would be legal under 2-5-5. Or would it be illegal because it is sort of like a backward suspended roll and didn't start and land on the performing surface according to 2-5-3. I'm leaning towards illegal following 2-5-3...what does everyone else think?

Bear with me I might post more questions like this, I just want to understand the rules the best I can. :)

at 2:05 that would be an example of the suspended forward rolls if she had another brace, correct? Also, would the dismount at 1:55 be legal now with the inversion thing?

My understanding is that the dismount will only be allowed if it starts at shoulder height or below. According to rule 2-5-5 and the forward flip (forward suspended roll has the bases or posts holding flyers hands while inverting) at 2:05 would be legal if there were another bracer on the other side in a pyramid according to rule 2-5-6. Does that make sense? Again if anyone disagrees with my understanding let me know. :)

So, the dismount would have to be from prep level? Thank you for clearing that up!
