HAHAHAH funny spray tanning story. When I was in 8th grade my friend and I decided to get spray tans for our 8th grade graduation. When I put the hair net thing on I put it a little too forward on one side and the lady spraying me didn't notice so when I took the hair net off there was a white line of skin on the side of my forehead! Luckily she had some remover wipes and we fixed it but it was kinda funny

My friend did that for prom Junior year. We didn't have a Versa in our town and instead had to be airburshed my hand and the women didn't notice. She had to go in the next day to have it fixed, but had to wear it to school for our senior awards/scholarship banquet. So embarrassing.

I recommend getting airbrushed by a professional. I do it for most of my big competitions and it never turns out orange. I know some places around where I live charge $20 and some others charge all the way up to $50. The airbrushed tans also last a little longer and a less risky in my opinion! Which everyone you decide to do make sure to shave and moisturize the night before! Good luck! :)

has anyone had the problem of their tan turning green? obviously not completely green but for some reason i was tan(definitely brown tho not orange) but with a slight green tint?? does anyone know if that makes it more brown vs an orange tint? it has happened with my at home self tanner(st tropez) and when my salon got a new brand of tanning solution, it did the same thing??

1. Exfoliate and don't put lotion on any part of your body before hand. It can cause splotches.
2. Make sure your legs are shaved before hand because you aren't going to want to shave them for a few days after.
3. Don't wear makeup into the booth.
4. Follow every detail of the directions that they give you.
5. Don't shower for at least 6 hours afterwards.

Oh and don't waste money on the scents. They smell gross.
Very important part of the spray tan that alot of people blow off! It makes a world of difference.

I live in NJ and air brush tan is much more $$$...How ever if this doesn't work out, I will give that a try.

I love going to a place where they have a versa spray tan, or in fact what I just did today, sephora sells a mouse St. Tropez, and I love it. A little messy since you do it yourself but you can use it more than once.

Whenever you spray tan you have the choice of different levels. Obviously the higher the level, the more color in the spray. I suggest that you start out with a light or medium spray tan and do a "cocktail" or "double dip". This means tanning in a regular bed first and then doing your spray tan immediately after. This opens your pores so that your skin can absorb the spray tan better. Don't use any lotion in the tanning bed or else your spray tan will be blotchy. I would suggest going a day or two before you leave and having it done. That way if you decide you want to be darker you can always go again. Also, Mystic tan is good and is what most salons use, but I would check and see if there are any salons near you that use Versa Spa. I've used both, but I prefer Versa Spa because it sprays you, dries you, and you can even choose different moisturizers and anti aging mixes too. If you do choose Mystic, make sure you follow the instructions carefully and really apply the barrier cream to your hands and feet, especially in between your fingers and toes, and a lot on your finger nails and toe nails. That's where most people get blotchy because they don't apply enough. And with either, make sure you wait at least 6 hours before showering and don't scrub too hard and same with drying off, just pat dry. Hope this helps!! :)

Definitely look for the Versa, that's the only one that I have used, but I have zero complaints! I use the medium and it doesn't make me look orange!

Medium will make me look TAN, like you in the picture or lightly tan? Also how long will it last and if I do it twice before I leave on Thursday will it be darker or last longer? Hmm.... maybe I should tan in a bed too? How long will it last?

That picture was taken after I used a medium spray, but I also do use the tanning beds as well, so I had a pretty good tan before I did the spray, and also, I am pretty fair-skinned to start... not sure if that would help you with your decision or not. I would use the beds as well and definitely do the double-dip when you spray, using the beds right before you get sprayed does open your pores and helps it go on smoother (as Swoop said :)). Choosing between light and medium depends on your skin tone, if you tan easily then I would say try the medium, but if you are truly unsure of how it will turn out (which I was very unsure... the only reason I even tried the Versa Spray is because I won a 3 tan package at my salon during an open house thing, and I am in love with it!) go for the light, if you decide you want to go darker, you can always go back and get a medium. I don't think it will make it last any longer than it does, which can be up to a month as long as you don't use a loofah or any kind of scrub on your body that can make it look splotchy.

If you have any other questions about it feel free to ask!

Very helpful...thank you!

St. Tropez self tanner works really well. You can buy it at Sephora, if you get it though make sure you get the mit to go with it because your hands will be so dark if you don't use it lol.

if you are coming to florida with a spray tan dont plan on going to the beach! the salt water and sand is an exfoliant and will make you streaky. i saw it happen yesterday at reach the beach in daytona
