for any Gym that has non refundable flights, hotels etc. there is a WSF competition in Philly this Sunday only. Keystone Extreme will be taking our teams there instead!

Our gym owners tried all day yesterday to get us into a comp in that area, but there was nothing we could get into with our divisions :-(

That's shocking! If I were an EP, I'd go out of my way to take in anyone from the cancelled event! It's just good business. When a coach is scheduling events for next year, they're going to remember if you helped them out in a tight spot or not. If you did, they'll come back to you again and again!

yeah that just doesnt sound right to me. We pulled out of this comp on Saturday and registered for WSF the same day, they were happy to have us as I think all EP's are more than happy to accomidate teams. I know we are bringing levels 1-5 and I also know there is competition in each division except J1.

So I find it funny that my CP's gym is supposed to be attending this competition and the gym owners have yet to inform us that it's been cancelled. I'm secretly happy though because I wasn't keen on paying $29 to get in.
$29 for spectator entry!? Did you get your own goodie bag or meal voucher for that price? I sure hope there was some elaborate benefit for a price like that. Yikes! What is an EP thinking charging that!?

We have Lg. Y1, Sm. J2 and Lg. J2. I guess that they contacted a few comps in the area including the reach the beach one and they said that they could not take anymore teams....

as an EP when you're scheduling your events, other than venue availability, you need to be aware of what is going on in the market around you. You should be aware that if you're holding a comp in Philly that most Philly, NJ, DE and MD schools are on Spring Break next week....that means that many families are likely to tack on a day or two to the end of the comp for vacation-especially teams that have come from a farther distance. Now, you add in that there is a Beach destination event being held those same days just 90 minutes away.....you're going to get low numbers! As a gym owner (who is influenced by parents who want to add on those "vacation" days to the end of the comp) you're going to pick the Beach event over an urban event.
