Talk about Suzi got her tic toc! Now, it's Suzi got her full! Imagine how many parents will want their kid on a level 5 team now that the rules have changed.

If you knew how mean USASF really is…You’d know that I’m not allowed to do double fulls, right? Yeah! On March 28, 2012 USASF told me that they were “unsafe” and I wasn’t allowed to do them anymore. And then for Worlds my coach said I could do my double full and I had to pretend like I didn’t like doing them anymore and…it was so sad.

hahahahha

As a gym owner I have a ton of devestated athletes! This does not help the growth of our sport! Eliminating the skills that set teams apart from another is not going to fix the problem! Investing in the growth of knowledge and proper education to coaches and programs would! I truly believe this will take the enthusiasim out of our sport, and it will stunt our industries growth! It doesn't seem the USASF thought this through. Gym owners need to rise up for the sport and the athletes!

I know this is a lot to take in at one time, but i assure you that the show will go on. in 2005 rules were released that we were no longer allowed to do doubles in college cheer, rewind full ups and a few other things. At that time everyone swore the sky was falling, and the future of coed stunting was in jeopardy. that rule about full twisting rewinds affected a very small percentage of us. at the time only the top 2 or 3 teams in each division had anything close to a majority of double fulls. the rules are made based off of things that happen. USASF, Varsity and everyone else quoted in this thread dont sit around trying to make your lives miserable. something happened, and they had to act. none of us are lucky enough to be on the board or able to sit in on the meetings, so arguing that they made the wrong choice is a little one sided. I know in 05, it was based off of college cheerleading not having insurance if things werent changed. if they didnt pick something, we would have lost it all. remember, were all on the same team. usasf varsity etc have quite a bit more invested into the future of cheerleading than most people think about. remember it employees thousands of people, and their interest is to keep it going, even though sometimes rules come out people dont like.

on a seperate note. has anyone ever stopped to think about what unlimited skills do to an athletes body? cheer is the only sport in the world without an off season. so imagine a very talented 10 year old. they learn a full, they learn a semi janky double and keep working. they will throw tens of thousands of these over the next 8 to 9 years with no significant off time for their body to heal. if theyre lucky they make it the entire career without an injury, but the damage has been done. maybe its because i am a parent now, but sometimes you have to help people from doing things you know are going to hurt them.

in the end, it will all be ok, creative teams will still be creative, and cheer will go on. you too will love it again, this is just a big fight between you and your love is all.

Oh you silly, silly boy...you seem think these rules are all designed for the best interests of the athletes and gyms.

Not my idea, taken from someone else but none the less I think its genius ... I think the kids should continue to throw their REAL passes, not their weak watered down one... then if everyone did this they would all get the same deductions and the message would be sent. We would all start even with a bajillion deductions haha

USASF is NOT doing this to the sport.

coaches are to blame for having kids throw skills at competitions that shouldnt be thrown and getting hurt. and skills that shuldnt be in there routine period.

as well as the uniforms.. SKIMPY uniforms that COACHES/GYM OWNERS design.
i want to see data on injuries from a standing full, double downs etc...
