Could the girl in a handstand technically be the flyer of the two "bases" holding her in the handstand? Then this would be like a pyramid fly over?

If she had her hands off of the ground yes. If you touch the ground at all though you are not a flier. Would've been a lot harder then too lol. For the record I wouldn'tind the wording of the rule changed to bases can not be in a back bend. I think the intent of the rule is to prevent people from literally basing while in a handstand and the obvious safety part of the backbend.

I also would like to add that I feel like their should have been at least a warning given day one, because the first time I saw a video of this skill this year I caught it, and it was a front on kinda blurry view. Ie not too hard to catch I knew there were ways to make it legal so I just assumed they were doing so. This view just cemented it for me. I love Courtney and CEA so I'm not bashing (and wish they would've placed higher) but I don't want another team to do this in a more obvious view to the judges and get nailed on it next year. Getting killed on the little things but that are clear when pointed out to you by the safety judge is the ultimate facepalm

I mean, I knew about the shoe but I didn't know about the SHOES. Girl literally performed the entire routine in socks! hahaha.

I would've been petrified to stunt and tumble in socks like that.

can someone fill me in on why she kicked her shoes off?
and was the opening basket supposed to look like that or did she mess up on her kick?

Someone stepped on her shoes during the choeography while Kelsey tumbles and it left them about half on so she just kicked them off.
