True story and I probably would laugh just because I laugh at inappropriate times regularly
Question then becomes should the videos be posted all over the internet because it are those skills which are providing the USASF with reasons behind these new rules. If it is just a touch down then that is one thing, but the video of just horribly thrown skills being laughed at and used as a joke may not help people's cases when it comes to getting these rules to go away.

Well the videos I saw were a full, and the jumps to tuck. Those aren't even under discussion- so I'm not sure it's having much of an effect. I didn't see any American teams with stuff like this. I mean, it's down right silly. It's clearly a coaching issue (times 10)-which is what the USASF really needs to get under control.

The issue isn't whether ppl falling is funny? Cuz yeah it definately can be. The issue is how it's representing our sport when tumbling bust videos are blasted on fb. Think of all the non cheer friends you have on fb who don't give a crap about your hard work in the gym. When they think cheerleading now, their first thought will be of someone eating it at worlds. Which doesn't help our side of the, cheer is a sport, argument.

I agree with the point of people should follow proper progressions, but it doesn't mean we should be making a joke when they don't. Cheer and tumbling in particular can cause serious injuries, and I've watched good friends who DID follow proper progressions and have good technique, walk away from the sport because of freak one time wrong landings.. So I really don't think it's funny.

Ok?? I know its not nice to make fun of people but then again what do you want us to do about it? The videos are posted on facebook not here so maybe your post would be better suited for facebook. Since you know, thats where you saw the video..

Well obviously I want you to hack into everyone's computers and delete the videos and replace them all with the old high light pro x videos.....

I posted here cuz this is a website about cheer....

And we have nothing to do with what youre complaining about.

personally i think your thinking way to far into all of this people are still going to take hockey seriously when players skate into each other and people still take football seriously when players fumble a ball and do ridiculous dances. having somebody crash into a mat isnt going to make anybody think less of our sport, or make it any more legit then it already is. when i talk to people about why they do not think it is a sport they say its not because of how we are 'scored' real sports in their view are when there are no judges just referees for whatever reason i just dont see how somebody will make fun of a sport because one or two people saw a video of somebody eating mat

Hockey, football, basketball, etc... Are all already recognized sports. In the view of the general public, cheer at any level, is not. That's the difference.

lol i dont think you get what i am saying watching a video with somebody falling in cheer isnt going to change peoples minds if we are a sport or not your waaay overreacting.

and personally i dont see how it matters anymore anyways we are the ones who are athletes if people take what we do for granted its their loss im over debating with people and friends about what it is i love the sport and thats what matters to me

and you saying that were all going to get bad karma well hopefully comes and bites you too :)

You guys can justify it all u want. You wanna laugh at someone eating it when they're trying to contribute to their team, that's fine. Cheer karma will get you, and you or your teammate will eventually eat it one day. Prolly when you can least afford the deduction.

But if you've ever thrown the word respect around, stuff like this is included. Cuz those ppl eating it on a video have a name, have a story. They prolly are embarrassed and feel bad they let down their team.

So laugh, and maybe next time it will be you :)

I think you're kinda missing the point. One of the main things that made me so upset was that it wasn't random ppl posting and watching these videos. It was other cheerleaders. And we may be from other gyms or schools, but we all have a love for the same sport. So it's a step in the wrong direction to glorify someones failures and make a joke out of them

would you like the nobel peace prize?
suuurrrreee do!

understandable i see your point but some people post videos OF THEMSELVES for others to laugh at, heck my friend jj was at her gymnastics meet doing vault and totally slid across the spring thing for your hands (no idea what its called not a gymnast) she posted it to facebook, viddy and youtube, yeah sure she wasnt cheerleading in this video but whats it matter i enjoy poking fun at myself and others as long as it is done in a justifiable manner nobodys saying omg jamie for tranny stars ate mat hes such a failure that teams a joke were laughing cause weve been there done that and its just funny

so i think we may just have to agree to disagree on this one cause this back and forth isnt doing much lol

Lol indeed.

There are videos on youtube when stunts fall in routines, football players missing fieldgoals, basketball players missing freethrows, etc. Are those equally hurtful? Or just when it is people at a subpar skill level throwing skills they shouldn't be throwing in the first place?
