So heres wht I would love to see happen in the near future

Open 4:
A division for athletes who've aged out of Senior eligibility who do not possess advanced tumbling and stunting skill. Scored similarly to the way the L4 is across the board throughout the majority of Varsity score sheet comps and not a Worlds division.

International 5:
I really would like to see this division reflect the majority of teams in the United States. Who ends up on i5's? A majority of elite tumblers who have trained and worked for YEARS on the skills they have for the Worlds score sheets to not reflect it.

International 6:
This division in my opinion is an answer to my above issue with L5 Tumbling and those who feel the rest of the World can't keep up with the US and tumbling. Lower the tumbling value of this division and put the emphasis on the building skills (The way the current Worlds sheets reflect). Teams out side the US that don't have access to tumbling and gym equipment in theory should be focusing on building skills and thus do great in this division.

In short...why not offer something for everyone?

O4 for those whose skills are intermediate

i5 a well rounded division that rewards tumbling, stunting and choreo (which is what I think US Cheerleading should reflect)

i6 a divison that focuses more on stunting as a means to level the international playing field.

I'd even go as far to say that i6 should keep the current percentages taken from US trials, to Semi-Finals and Finals to keep it fair but in that same respect I'd want to see more US i5 teams pass through to finals.

What do you guys Think???

RulesGuy (Im tagging you in hope to spark some convo and ideas)

I have no convo to add but completely agree with the plan and have absolutely no pull. Sorry, I agree but am no help. Good luck!:)

I can speak for the O4 team, because i was just on one. I think its a great divison for retired athletes( like myself), who want to compete again, as well as level 4 athletes! Im really hoping gyms consider looking into this division!

I love it - this is basically a lot of the same things I was saying in the O4 thread. O4 is great for lower level athletes who age out, O5 is great for the elite cheerleaders to continue being elite (with more of a commitment), and IO6 is great for former college cheerleaders, those who no longer have the tumbling to be on IO5, or those who don't want the commitment of an IO5 team.

i think its a great idea because the amount of tumbling in I5 compared to how much it is worth is very off. And I am 100% for open 4 as well. I think it has the potential to be a fun division.

I think O4 would be a great division. For example, the only level 5 skill that I can do is jumps to tuck so I would never make a level 5 team and O4 would give me and other athletes like myself the opportunity to continue to compete. I love the idea.

I love the idea of 04 because after 15 years of beat downs having to do difficult level 5/6 stunting can be hard! It allows us broken athletes to still compete at a high caliber level but with less pressure.

Here in Canada we have an Open 4.2 division (ages 17+ like Open 6, with same rules as senior 4.2) and it is rapidly becoming a very popular division and a great alternative for gyms who have older athletes but do not have the tumbling and stunting caliber required to be competitive in in international 5 or 6 :)

That is one thing that I was confused by. Some of these teams tumbled a lot in their routines.
Lazers scored in the 4s (out of 5) for both running and standing and in the 7s (out of 10) for sync. Do the extra few tenths of a point these top 10 teams get really matter when they could save several 8 counts for something else?

I guess this is a discussion for a different thread.

I think there is a huge market for open4 teams.

I think the tumbling rules in level 6 shouldn't be watered down or worth less and here's why. Level 6 as it stands doesn't progress properly except for stunts. If tumbling is the same as level 5, why would an athlete want to go level 6 when it's at this point less competitive, and they already have experience at level 5...

With level 5 tumbling taking some rule caps, it would only make sense for level 6 to NOT have those caps because a) the athletes are older and in theory more technically sound. And b) it would promote tumbling progression from 5 to 6
