CHEETAHS 2by2 worlds video :)

Ughhhhhh!!! Cheer Athletics is such a classy gym and I just can't stand it!!! They initiated the Top Gun chant when Top Gun was announced as the Bronze winner. I also LOVED how Cheetahs walked over to California Allstars to hold hands while they announced the last 2 places.

I Tip My Hat To Cheer Athletics! *Talent & Class*

I hate to break it to yall but there are UK teams throwing 1 3/4 ups this season.. with maybe 4 or 5 fulls on the team. So are we not good enough to make it to finals simply because we don't have the tumbling, or?

haha you obviously miss understood what I said. I dont think that teams that barely break 100 deserve to make it into finals. I said nothing about skills, my issue is with their scores.

"haha"? you need to stop being so rude. not once did you say anything about scores.

Not being rude, you need to stop being so sensitive. I also never said anything about tumbling. Let me say this again so that you can fully comprehend what my position is. I believe that only teams with scores high enough to make it into finals/prelims should make it into prelims, and not because they were the best team from their country. If your team can score in the high 200's doing front rolls and cartwheels then you deserve to be there. If you have any further need to talk about this then go ahead and PM me. I will no longer derail this thread from its original topic.

I understand what you are saying, but try looking at it from a different perspective. For some of those teams, going to worlds is a once in a lifetime experience. They are all realistic of their skills I'm sure, they know they're not going to win or even come close, but they're doing it for the experience, to represent their country and to see & meet the US teams they look up to and are inspired by. To say "I competed in the same division as Topgun, Cali, GT etc..." is a big deal to most outside the US. Plus, paying ~$1500+ per person to be there, you'd would want to be competing more than once over the whole weekend.

Everyone is comparing Worlds to the Olympics. First, only 1 team per country can qualify for the Olympics. Second, not every team that qualifies for the Olympics, will qualify for finals. Apples and oranges.
ICU Worlds is more similar to the Olympics.

I dont get what your point is? I have no objections to these teams being there, I think that they have every right to be there if they earned their bid. My issue is when these teams that are barely breaking 100 make it into semifinals and finals. Irregardless of where you are from if youre barely breaking 100 then you have no business making it past prelims. You are taking the place of other teams that can actually stand shoulder to shoulder against everyone else but dont make it back because of a 1-5 point difference. Teams can still go to worlds and say that they competed against the big name gyms, and have a worlds experience. But if all they make it to is prelims then so be it. Countries should not get special treatment because they're from xyz. Everyone should be treated the same, its the World Championships for gods sake, not a charity. Its not fair for the US teams that work JUST as hard as teams from other countries and are not able to make it back because they only take top 3 teams. I was extremely bitter at worlds this year watching teams that were entertaining to watch but realistically stood no chance of winning, make it to semi finals and finals. They were basically given a free ride into finals while my team and many other great teams had to bust our butts to even make back to day 2. Finals and semi finals for the International division should be based solely on scores, and nothing else.

Call me Mrs Bitter to have the very last place team outside the U.S. in finals is seriously a slap in the face to the U. S. teams and the "sport"

you work just as hard? fair enough. but you have the facilities in front of you.. you have an easy cheering life. my team doesn't have a sprung floor. and a gym coach we see once a week.. not even on a full sprung floor. a tumble track and old gym floor.

This is why the international score sheet is the way it is, and the division is the way it is. Think how hard we have to work to try keep up to your standards in the US.. I can assure you that 9/10 teams in the states see an international team name on the scoresheet from say Europe and not quiver one bit. How do you think we feel when it's the other way around, seeing ourselves against GT, CA, etc? It is a somewhat daunting experience stepping out on the mat against such high-profile gyms.

Gaining skills having persevered for so long without the correct (or the same) facilities as the teams we will be against.. and then making it to worlds and placing top 10 (in some cases top 5).. shows that all that hard work and pushing past all the obstacles pays off. I'm not talking about my team, but all international teams. scores are scores. they differ from panel to panel (as we seen in sml snr day 1 where the judging panel were more harsh than in other divisions). if you go out, hit that routine to the best of your ability and score a decent enough score compared to the other teams in your division, then trust me when I say it all pays off. my team could place out the top 10 at worlds and walk away happy if we knew we'd gone out there and hit and performed that routine to the best of our ability. rest assured we don't care who thinks what about our score - cause it is OUR score that WE have gained, and ours and ours alone to analyse and work on. we set our targets - and if we reach them, we are delighted, and set our sights higher from then on - and if we don't reach our targets we take the experience home with us and work on it to improve

I don't believe they do, 3 teams from the USA qualify as do 3 teams from every other country. If they did it purely on scores, it would be 10 US teams competing each other in finals which doesn't make it an international division. The rules are fair, the best 3 from each country get to compete, it just so happens that there is more competition for those 3 spots in the USA than other countries. Considering there are maybe only 3 partial paid bids all year in the UK, they have already narrowed it down there, US teams get so many bids, they have to narrow it down in semi-finals. It is the same principle.

If you don't think they get special treatment then you should read around about some of the stuff the USASF has said. They are "forgiving" to International teams that break the age guidelines (yes this was said in an e-mail) and their age grid is offically different for worlds the the US Teams (14 for I5 divisions while 15 for the US and a December 2013 cutout for I6 while the US is August 2012). When you are looking from then US and reading/hearing some of the things said it comes off that they get special treatment. I don't blame the teams at all though, they just want to compete. The USASF does give special treatment though, they pretty much admitted to it.
