Hopefully tomorrow they show large coed and large all girl.. like really they were saying everyone comes to the arena for small all girl? Um no pretty sure that the arena was over capacitated for large all girl. Not saying small all girl is a bad division to watch, granted there were a lot of people there to watch them but in all honestly I'm pretty sure 95% of the population would rather see large all girl. I did enjoy seeing Twist and Shout and Gymtyme Open 6. To please everyone though they need to show top 3 in each division. And skip the awards ceremonies.

And the commentary -___- They should get an actual retired allstar cheerleader to do the commentary, not a gymnast. Two complete opposite things.

It's also possible that ESPN is a big enough corporation that they took all the coverage they had and picked what they thought would appeal the best to their viewing audience. (hint - non-cheerleaders)

Once again this is not a conspiracy theory and it's not "about me" so maybe many people on here won't believe it, but it's another possibility so I thought I would throw it out there.

I know you reasonably well so I don't think you are trying to be rude, but I don't think you can find a time where I was upset about being on the other side of the coin.

In fact if you look at any history of my posts I don't pull for or against any athlete/team/program. What I am for is people in this sport who are positive and supportive of each other. What I am against is people being negative to others for things they have no control over.

We don't know who made the decision for what teams, divisions got highlighted so we shouldn't speculate too much and we shouldn't take away from the kids who were fortunate to be highlighted.

ETA: Yes I was delighted my daughter got a closeup. I hope I didn't come across as gloating or that didn't offend anyone and if it did I apologize.

Fernando, it's not in what you do say, but rather what you don't.

Judging off of the fact that it said, "Produced by Varsity in Conjunction with ESPN."

Well, the above statement says enough in light of the events leading up to the World Championship.

I am very well aware of how that relationship works and learned more than most during Worlds weekend. We still don't know who made what decisions with regards to what aired and what didn't.

I gotta agree with this. When I watched it I was totally not surprised to see IOC6 because, let's face it, to the vast majority of the world, no one has a clue who F5 or cheetahs or Smoed is (sad, poor souls that they are) and level 6 has a lot more "wow factor" in pyros and baskets to appeal to the people who don't know anything about Cheerleading. I think in that sense, showing that division and some of the international teams (from a non cheerleader, random ESPN watcher perspective) was actually a good thing for the promotion of Cheerleading as a "sport."

I think it's somewhat akin to people who have a favorite book that was made into a movie...it's never as good as the "real thing" to the ones that read and love it....and totally clueless people out there will think an IOC6 is better than F5 or Smoed or....insert favorite champion team here...just because they don't understand the sport (lord knows the commentators aren't clearing that up while they're watching) and the stunts have more surface flash.

Honestly what the cheer community wants and expects is honestly just not possible on a show. I blame us for having unreasonable expectations.

A bunch of cheer peeps who are used to seeing and/or performing crazy stunts and tumbling, sometimes while injured or sick or who knows what else....you think WE have unreasonable expectations  hehehehe

I think if they had just shown the Top 5 of sm senior (I'm going off of what people say here, I didn't watch the show) Top 3 of IOC6, and maybe the full routine for the world champs in the other divisions. I get why they chose those two, so highlight them. That being said, it sucks knowing you'll never see yourself because they highlight the same two divisions every year.

Every year it's the exact same thing. Everyone on here bashes the announcers, teams, varsity and USASF.

The reality is, the announcers are far more experienced than anyone on this board.

Amy and Amanda could be talking about how this team "was the tea" or how so and so "gives them life" maybe they might "cry" or they might even be "DEAD".
Doing so would make the 300 regular posters on here extremely happy, but, the rest of the TV watching world would be lost and most likely disgusted

And, this is what I know about USASF/Varsity -- they put on an event that YOU have to be in attendance. So much so, they have to shut down the place because of overcrowding.

So, I invite all of the complainers to not accept your paid bid, don't go watch, and don't watch the tv coverage. I'm sure you'll be a much happier camper.

I dont want someone to call a routine "the tea" I want someone who has actually cheered and knows what the skills are called. I have heard multiple wrong things said from those announcers before. And that makes me angry.

I don't need them to use our lingo. I would like for them to speak in a way that is logical and thought out properly. Amanda sounded decent when she was on the CBS broadcast for NCA. I don't know what it is about the Worlds one where she sounds crazy. Different script writers perhaps?
