Is It Normal To Stalk Your Competition Online Before You Compete? Lol!

Totally agree - from a coaching perspective it is definitely helpful to "stalk" a little. When I can't find a competitor's routine on Youtube, I look on the gym's website for action shots from competitions.

Hmmm.. I never thought about doing that. I will occasionally check out the local rival gyms websites just to kinda keep tabs on what is new with them. I'll have to possibly consider that next year cause I've found alot of gyms are starting to get smarter about enforcing the no youtube video policy until the end of season. I tried to find videos for the teams were would be competing against in Cali cause I'd never even heard of the gyms and Ic ouldn't find anything!! So frustrating walking into a comp completely blind and uneducated about your competition

oh you are so not alone in this one!! as a coach, i always like to see what my girls are up against! it helps us go into competitions with realistic expectations! and its always nice when you see a team and are wowed by them, and then you beat them! :)

I look at it as studying film just like any other sports teams do when they are preparing for their next game or competition. It helps you format your routine for the best possible chance to win. After all isn't that the primary goal of competition, to win?

I definitely do this but the crazy part is that I watch the videos so much that I get to know the tumblers on the video. When I see them at competitions, I am like "thats the girl with the crazy sick last pass." :) My daughter gets quite embarrassed at times.

Every gym has at least one parent who can be deemed the stalker. Usually the same one who posts the comp times for everyone else to see as soon as they are up (raises hand and hides head) The rest of us are definitely just doing research ;)
