From personal experience my niece (6) loves getting an individual trophy

My sister (17) looks at them with disdain....but I did go to her room the other day and saw them all on her desk so maybe its all just a show....or maybe she had no where to hide them. Who knows.

I think this year American Superstarz gave out garment bags to ever participant. Ever time you turned a corner you heard some kid going "....but what is it?"

So I'd say yes to trophies for little ones....

No to garment bags for little ones... or anyone
yeah we didn't know what it was either when we opened it...wasn't til we got back into our hotel room that we figured it out lol...the champion jackets were different. a thin hoodie with cool writing on the back. Unfortunately, my cp got one a size too small...it's all good.

I plan on taking all of her t-shirts (practice wear and comp shirts) and making a huge quilt out of them for her to keep. this way it frees up at least 2 drawers in her dresser and she gains a blanket to travel with! it's a win-win!

I'm doing the same for my sister next year for her graduation. Partly because a cool idea...and superficially because I don't want her walking around college in old cheer t shirts

LIKES: towels from COA (have a billion of them and love em all), sweatshirts, medals for lil ones, and Bows sound like a great idea, competition DVD's are really cool too

DISLIKES: cheap stuff like the draw string bags

I know SpiritFest in CT gave out bows to grand champs...they were really cute too.
Yes, SpiritFest and Advanced Spirit (a new EP and one of the best run comps we went to last year). Both were really nice bows - not cheap at all.

I am not going to lie..I have a little collection of cheersport blankets..I actually love them. I have one in like every room in my house. There small enough to take with you but big enough to cover you if I get cold.
That came SO handy this year at cheersport! it was freezing & it was perfect!

Love the Spirit Sports backpacks.
Love the championship hoodies and jackets. CP even gets use out of her T-shirts too.

As a mom I like getting the photos CD's as a participation gift. CP also has a nice collection of Varisty trading pins after last season. I don't think we need any duplicate pins this season.

Medals are great for the younger kids, especially when 2nd and 3rd get them as well. Great for bringing to "show and tell".

I like the Jam Live gives out mini trophies. I think one competition a year for a mini trophy is good.

Don't like drawstring bags, scarfs, winter hats, or ribbons.

MY CP has never won a bow that would be a very practical championship gift.

CSG did keychain bows with drawstring bags for one day national championships this past season. Also gave out bows, shoes, and rhinestone tees for high point and grand champs at Super Nationals one year.

Not the best picture but I loved the keychain bows!

I personally never loved medals and I never did anything with them... I had a huge collection of them sitting in a drawer and lots of them looked exactly the same. But on the other hand, I've had parents/kids complain about not receiving a medal when they placed lower than 3rd, so they must mean the world to some other people.

Jackets, t-shirts, and sweatshirts though... I loved them all and definitely wore them.
