According to NACCC's Facebook page there is discussion about moving the Worlds schedule from Friday, Saturday and Sunday to Saturday, Sunday and Monday.

"Steve Peterson discussing Worlds. 2013 dates will be April 27-29, Saturday, Sunday, Monday next year."

Do you think this is an effective strategy to alleviate the overcrowding issues? Seems it might eliminate the casual, local attendee from showing up, but that's about it. Perhaps that's a significant enough number to make a difference.

I don't think this will do much to alleviate the over-crowding. I'd love to see some numbers on how many spectators fly out Sunday night - probably not that many. We might lose some spectators from Central Florida who can make the drive in a few hours, but that's a small percentage.

I do, however, like this simply because both venues can now be used for prelims/US Trials. This year the Jostens center went from 8am to 10pm and we had much shorter warmup times than we had on Saturday.

I don't know that USASF's motivation to change the schedule is to avoid the overcrowding issue. If it is I hope they don't stop here. They did address the 2011 overcrowding by moving the high profile divisions to early in the morning. It wasn't enough.

This would effect college students. I had to make up a final this past year because I missed Monday so If I have to miss Monday and Tuesday of finals week...that will not be the tea.

But I do see how it would help some but I vote no. Find a bigger building.

But most had to miss Friday already. It's just trading one day from the previous week for one day the next week.

The contract with Disney is essentially putting a huge damper on the growth of the event and the sport. We have at least 2 more years of deliberately setting up the schedule to discourage as many fans as possible from attending. It is what it is, but that is unfortunate.

I have a feeling this will play a bigger damper on people getting to Worlds to compete and kids missing more school.

I go to school Monday-Thursday. A lot of college people I know do. So it wouldn't be trading a day. I went to all of my classes the week of worlds this past year.

If I was going to fly out to watch worlds purely as a spectator...it wouldn't matter to me if it was Fri - Sun or Sat - Mon.

I think other suggestions that have been discussed here (tiered ticketing, creative scheduling for example) will do a lot more to manage the crowds.

Oh, that and the most simple of answers...limiting ticket sales. (Hence the need for some tiered pricing / admission to maximize the number of people who can enter.)

My daughter had to miss Thurs and Mon this year, due to performing on Fri. Coming from the West Coast with the time diff, you need a day just for travel, both ways. Who knows what will happen this year. Just depends.

I truly hate that Worlds need to be a 3 day event...sheer expenses alone, another night paying for a hotel and an extra day of expenses on top of the extra day missed of school and classes. I know people hate the idea of using Indiana Jones but that is an option of a third building.
