Or REALLY out of the box thinking...why not move Worlds to the summer when most everyone is out if school? (and probably not at Disney then.)

Why was the end of April originally chosen for Worlds Weekend?

Because that's when the season is ending. By summer you're already starting on next season.

Who says that the season has to end in april when everyone is busy with everything else like finals....make it end at the end of may....I dont see how it would make any difference at all.
I dont hate this idea at all... why not look into shifting the season a bit?

I dont think shifting the season a few weeks or a month is a horrible idea, but it would have to be an industry wide shift and that might be something that takes a while to get into action. Overall I dont think its a bad idea though.

Just in case people forgot, Worlds isn't the end of the season for a good portion of the industry. US Finals has a competition annually that falls after Worlds weekend and many other companies do, too. Many level 1-4 teams continue competing well in to May. Having Worlds at the end of that month doesn't seem like too bad of an idea when you put the entire cheerleading community into perspective.

It really depends on where you live regarding the end of your season. Our season ended at BATB. I think that was the last weekend of March. We started practicing for this season the first week of May. I don't know of any teams around here that have there season continue throughout April and into May. My understanding is that some gyms (Texas?) had tryouts in March, as there were some that were very upset when the "emergency" rules came out at the end of March due to the fact that their teams for the new season were already formed and potentially impacted by the age grid changes.

However, I do recall reading somewhere that there was some ideas being kicked around about standardizing the start and end to the season a little more. Which probably wouldn't be a bad thing.

to be honest monday is the worst possible day of the week to miss for schoo, you are always starting new stuff for high school and college and this is stupid.

Teams from the West Coast have always had to miss school on Mon. I guess now they will have to miss on Tues too? Not Cool. Parents gonna be pissed!!! If my cp was under 18, this would be a deal breaker. Actually since I pay for college, its a deal breaker

And it's one less day the week before that they'll have to miss.

not necessarily, you need to dedicate 1 day for travel. 5 hour flight and you lose three hours and thats only if you get a direct flight, which I think can only happen out of LAX. Plus what about US Trials is that still happening, is it still on Fri? If you want to practice on Thurs, you need to arrive on Wed.

Plus Most college kids dont have class on Fri it's much worse to miss Mon and Tues.

That's the end of the school year for most kids. From mid-May until Mid-June you will have tons of kids finishing their academics, taking finals, graduating, going on senior trips, etc. I would love to wait until school is out, but based on the different schedules from state to state, I think it would be almost impossible to make happen.

And if they moved it earlier into April, it would probably interfere with a lot of states' SAT and standardized testing schedules. Our school system won't excuse our kids for any reason on testing days.

US Trials will be on Saturday now. Everything shifted one day from last year - so you get in one day later and you leave one day later.

I don't know about "Most kids don't have class on Friday" either - maybe people here have that experience, but that's certainly not universal, I always did and all of my friends from other schools did too. Our classes were MWF or T/TH, the T/TH classes were longer.

It's obviously not going to be convenient for everyone, but it wasn't convenient for everyone before either.

I guess I just dont see what this change will help, I will have to wait and read all about it when its all said and done. All the parents Ive spoken to see it as a problem and are not happy with it. I can only talk from a parents point of view, they've told me its also easier for them to miss work on a friday too. For my family it wont work and thats why I say its a deal breaker.

and of course I realize not everyone will be happy and not everyone was happy before

Not on the West Coast - standardized testing was the last couple of days the week before worlds and then on the Monday after - Tuesday if you were a sophomore. Daughter had to make up the testing in one day when she got back.
