I think removing shimmies is silly....and lord knows if we all like them then lets get rid of them...heaven forbid we have any fun....sheeeesh.....IMHO

I haven't decided who yet, lol.. After tonight's events, I'm not sure I wish that role on anyone.

With the way some people go on about Maddie, some are seriously downright hateful, I know for a fact I wouldn't wish it upon anyone. That is why when someone said that anyone would jump at the opportunity I laughed, that just isn't the case for everyone.

I asked, out of curiosity just because I don't know how those kinds of things work and i would hope theyd get some fee for letting the magazine use their shot. No idea why you'd think I was a photographer, my posts in the bullying thread make it pretty clear I'm a high school principal.
I don't know where I got the impression that you were a photographer, but clearly I was wrong. Apologies. I don't read every single thread here and I haven't read the bullying one (yet); sorry if I broke some sort of Fierceboard code.

I have no idea what I missed in this thread and what was deleted/edited out (busy day in the real world today) but I AM a freelance photographer, and I was over-sensitive to the issue because people ask me questions like that all the time. It is somewhat offensive to me to think that people don't think I can take care of myself. Honestly, the noteriety of the photo and the exposure she receives far outweighs any monetary compensation she would have ever received. She has every reason to be proud; I still maintain it isn't anyone's business if she was paid. But that is my humble opinion and everyone is free to disagree if they don't see it my way. /end rant

I asked this question out of pure curiosity because I'm not a photographer and didn't know if the industry pays you for pictures or if your payment is simply being "published" which I would think would be very cool as well. I have no earthly idea how that was an offensive question and I surely didn't imply you couldn't take care of yourself, basically I was asking a copyright question not knowing if you keep a copyright on it or if it becomes the magazines when they publish it.

These are all merely questions to understand how your industry works and nothing more. So sorry to have offended you, I really had no intention (or the vaguest idea) that such a question could even be offensive. I'll leave the tone of your response to that question as a side effect of you being over sensitive as you mentioned.

And for the record, the drama that was deleted had nothing to do with either of us.

Deja vu of the old Pro X board when grown adults were demanding to know why their "likes" or whatever they were called back then were taken away while us admin's furiously tried to delete old threads to keep the boards from crashing.

200 page threads about where are my "likes"?? I demand an answer and I'm not going anywhere until an Admin gives me an answer. Still here. Still here. Still here. And on and on and on.

I'm disappointed.

I am an xray tech by day photography as a hobby..... I was able to capture a great picture of my cp in a sunset scorpion. I was excited and post it on here, my tumbler and on FB. I did not watermark the photo and was really excited to see it on Pinterest, then on several websites. It now is an avatar on here and on twitter account both which are not mine or my cp, which is cool to see. It is bitter sweet though, I know it is my cp, and I know I was lucky to get the picture. Pure flattery so many people have enjoyed it, one person asked if they could get a poster on one of the websites. But once social media takes over. Hard to prove ownership. I totally love the notoriety, but on the same hand, someone claimed it as a picture of there cp on one of the sites. Beware if you do want to prove ownership when posting pictures!

I think this got blown out of proportion - thank you for explaining your angle. Each situation is different and if Lisa wants to disclose her arrangement with the magazine, she will. Usually details of transactions like that are private and I just didn't want her to feel pressured to disclose it. No hard feelings. :)

I think thats what the inner nerd was really wondering about, the impact if social media on intellectual property rights. I can totally see both sides. Who doesn't want to see your work with a following, but at the same time I'd think you'd at least want the credit or copyrights to it as well. With pix so easy to save from the Internet I would think this would be a concern for photographers and I know in fiction writing if you intent to put it up for publication it can't be "pre published" online. When she said shed taken it down and why thats what got me wondering about it. It sounded the same.
