Alright, so I was trolling youtube looking at random routines, and I found this one:

Now, never mind that it's Senior Elite (this is not about them, or their point flyer, or anything related to CEA)...Amanda Borden actually knew it was called a tic-toc at one point!

Why has the commentary gotten progressively worse over the years? I found nothing wrong with how she described this routine. There were no silly call-outs like "that looks fun!"

Why is this?

Change of writers maybe? Do we know if they write their own commentary or if someone writes it for them? Maybe the 'powers-that-be' are controlling the direction of the commentary.

Side note: One of my favorite dances of theirs. Got my boogie on as soon as it came on..

My big bit doing that 3 to double in the middle. Thanks for the memory!

So many good shots of her in this video. Our tivo was mistakenly deleted by her sister. It's been years since I've seen this.

And Amanda Borden did a great job. I agree with everyone else. It's the writers.

Actually, there are no writers. The conversation happens naturally with no actual script. The commentators engage in natural dialogue as the footage runs across their monitor. The only leads they can rely on are the notes they took during interviews with coaches throughout the weekend.

Sometimes, there is an additional cheer expert present (myself, Stephanie Ammirati, or someone else) during production to provide additional insight or answer the commentator's questions before shooting. In my opinion, our commentators do a better job when that additional 'cheer expert' is present for production.

So what I take from this is YOU need to be present for ESPN commentary ;)

Just save us the aggravation and take over that job yourself. LOL
