Yeah!!! She'll be in the cabin with my CP!!! I think they wear their theme clothes to the gym, but she will need the sling back for sweats, a water bottle, shoes, phone, etc. My biggest surprise was how cooooooooooooold it was. it got down to 43 the night we arrived. It was cold and windy on SUnday and by the time I left PA it was only 72 degrees. I heard a lot of people say that it was unseasonably cold weather. They also said the pool was 85 degrees....so it must have a heater!!! It sounds like they swim daily, so pack more than one swim suit so your CP doesn't have to put on a wet one.

There were 15 kids in my CP's cabin, all of whom were 8-9. There were a few gymnasts, but most were there for cheer. CP said today that they had their mandatory practice for 3.5 hours and she didn't go to the open gym right after but she was going to go to the one in the evenings. I'm cool with that....5.5 hours of tumbling a day is plenty for camp. SHe also said the coaches were awesome.....REALLY big on form and technical things....which sometimes can get looked over at cheer practice back home. Oh, and she was going bungee jumping for the second time today.....I figured it was best not to ask too much about that one.....what I don't know can't hurt me right???

Oh, do make sure to pack the white t-shirts for tie dye day as people have suggested on this board. I sent her with a 5 pack of boys white tank tops so she could share with her friends. I bought 5 shirts for 7 bucks and if they buy the t-shirts in the pro shop they are 6 bucks a pop. Only reason I mentioned it is that CP brought up that they are tie dying on Thursday....which I thought odd that she was already talking about it with everything else going on. It must be a fun event?!?!? ANywhoo...glad I packed the tanks!

That's my update for now. I will let y'all know if CP gives me anything else I can convey to you to help. I was just glad to get the 4 minutes on the phone with her.....she was clearly having a blast and talking to mom was not the priority. I guess I should be grateful for that.....but I wish she would just stay my little girl for a little bit longer. Have a great evening....or as CP said this afternoon....BUH BYE!!
don't feel bad, im 16 and this is my 5th summer going to woodward and my mom still gets upset when she cant talk to me for at least 10 minutes a day. she is okay though as long as i text her all day and then say good night love and miss her everynight lol. and after the like 3rd night she wants me home but then realizes she still has a little more then 2 more weeks without me. she misses you even if she doesnt get to say it:)

Dropped CP (9) off for week #2 this weekend. She went without knowing anyone and several girls in her cabin are from the same team. She basically pushed me out after lunch so she could go make friends! LOL

She's texted a few times and called once. She loved the Woodward bow and felt good about how well she tumbled at evaluations. She's made 2 great friends already. They've gone swimming and even rode the mechanical bull! (I NEVER thought she would do that!) She is looking forward to open gym and practice today. I'm so glad she is loving every minute of it so far!

My cp has asked to go to Woodward and I have said no pretty much every time she asks...lol.... My kid would do the minimum tumbling classes required and hang out at the food court (she's 70lbs soaking wet but can out eat most adults), arts and crafts, or the pool for the reminder of her time....lol... I cant fathom spending that kind of $$, when I dont think she would really gain a lot of tumbling skills out of it....Maybe I could let her go if I went as a chaperone, but other than that, I will keep my $$$....lol

We're the opposite. LOL I'd have to restrict her tumbling time and encourage her to join in some other non cheer related activities. If they went together M, each could make sure the other wasn't over doing it in 1 particular area. HAHAHAHA

Logically I know it's sleep away camp and 3 meals a day plus all the other things they provide but the price is just out of our budget. Plus factoring in team camps and obligations and there are only a few weeks that she could go.

Our gym has tumbling clinics that are $75 for 3 days of tumbling. (9 hours total)

My cp has gone the past 3 summers, this will be her fourth. She goes to mandatory class as well as to at least one if not two other sessions a day and loves it. Last year she got tapped and was beyond thrilled even though she was not able to go back for that week. Being that they have to spend extra money if they want food aside from mealtimes, there is not much to do at the food court, and aside from those damn $3 juleps (aka strawberry smoothies) which my kid knows she cannot have more than once a day, most of the kids truly do spend their time working on new skills or perfecting old ones. It is a lot of money especially when you realize that they are there for not even a full week, but as long as she wants to go I will try to send her. If I knew though she was only going to the minimum tumbling, I would probably feel the same way you do.

My cp is going for 3 weeks this summer....I can't keep her out of the gym!!! It is worth every penny. This summer she is a JC for two of her weeks. I wish Reagan could be with her mstealtoyou But this is her third year and she has loved each and every experience!!!

is there a list of coaches/instructors as to who they are and where they're from?

I'd just like to say that every time I see this thread I die a little inside because I've been going to Woodward for 3 years and this was going to be my first summer to go 2 weeks (weeks 4 and 5). Well, I broke my hand tumbling at school tryouts last month and now I can't go at all. I'm SO mad

Hi everyone, I'm going to woodward week 8 and cheer for Maryland Twisters, any one with well known gym shirts also going that week that wanna trade??? PM me!! <3

Yes it's a lot of $$$ and I was concerned how CP would do alone there. She loves to tumble, but doesn't really like open gyms. She isn't comfortable without a structured class or outgoing enough to ask a random coach for help. I told her that she had to go to at least 1 open gym every day. She wasn't upset about the rule, but wasn't jumping for joy either.

The 1st day she only did her 1 open gym. Now she's going to both open gyms (and mandatory practice) every day without me telling or asking her to go. I think it helps that she's not required to stay for the entire open gym so she can leave when she's tired.

Yesterday in between all of her practices she went horseback riding, rode go-karts, did the talent show, and went tie-dying with her new friends. I was amazed at everything she did and still fit in 2 open gyms!!!

This morning our text convo was:
CP: :( Last day of tumbling
Me: you still have 3 gym times today
CP: YAY!!!!

I've stopped getting the "I miss you texts" LOL

Every CP is different, but for us it helped to have a specific goal in mind. CP was really close to her tuck before camp so that was her goal. She loves the instructors there and when she realized how close she was to getting it she got motivated to tumble every moment she could.

Hopefully one day you feel comfortable sending your CP. It has been an amazing experience for mine!

My CP LOVED it last year!!! Wish I could figure a way to get her there this year!!!
