And please don't get me started on Dicks the sporting goods store. In our area they were originally Chick's sporting goods and then the name switched to Dicks and well it was a city full of jokes on that one!

On another note, Im 5'8 and I can never find spandex that are long enough. Im a medium in soffees, so I know it's not that they're too small. I've even sized up a few sizes to see if it'd be any longer, and no dice. Anyone else with this problem?

Biker shorts. They are longer but you can roll up the leg if they are too long.

My girls have ways worn some type of additional sports brief under their shorts and a sports bra. I hate seeing the little ones wearing big shorts and seeing their under garments (new moms don't know so coaches please enlighten them).

Both of my girls also wear spanks under dresses. My youngest feels like she is not completely dressed if she doesn't have a pair on under a dress.

I always did the spandex under shorts, but that's because I would wear my volleyball spandex under my school uniform skirt (coed school and boys are weird lol), so when I put on my soffe's I just kept them on. That way I wasn't in just spandex (which I was used to but other girls were super self-conscious about) and I had nothing showing/lines or anything.

Marshall's sells spandex! I was surprised to see them there they even had the Nike pros! I hate how the soffes are so wide in the legs.

Adore my nike pros! I wear them alone, pretty much anywhere I can get away with it, but cannot for the life of me understand why people don't wear sensible/sturdy underwear with them. I would much rather see panty-lines than worry that all that's between me and your treasure box is a thin layer of spandex. They're not infallible, an awkward catch can still be revealing!

I actually laughed so hard in my office at "treasure box" my boss came in to ask me what was happening. I'm stealing this and using it in life.

any advice on where to get good spandex cheap? i know marshalls and tj maxx has already been mentioned. anywhere else?

Target has spandex that works great for my little one - I think they only have sizes 4/5 through 12/14, don't think they have adult sizes. She has a whole rainbow. Around here they're $12.99 and often on sale for less than that, and they're comparable in quality to Nike pros and reebok compression shorts.

Eta - they have matching sports bras but they start at size 6-6x, which is just comically huge on the 4 year old.

I still wear nike pros under dresses from time to time too....once a cheerleader.... lol

long ago before spandex were popular (pre 2005) we used to wear bloomers under our soffee shorts. It wasnt mandatory but everyone who flew did it.

I would have to say nike pros are 1000x more comfy than bloomers!

Girdles are more comfortable then bloomers!

I get wedgies in everything and could neverrrr wear spandex alone, I'd feel like everyone's judging me for picking my butt every 10 seconds. I'd also never do leggings as pants but if you have that ideal, no jiggle backside, go for it.

When I did HS cheer (2yrs ago) I was seriously the only flyer that wore spandex with soffes... And we were a COED team, our coach was insane for not requiring it. Now I wear spandex under ALL my soffes and dresses/skirts, even my homecoming and prom dresses :p

It's weird hearing how some gyms aren't allowed to wear just a sports bra to practice?! All of my cps practice clothes are just sports bras and spandex (Nike Pros) and if you are not in practice clothes that's what the coaches tell you to wear. Since everyone doesn't have the new practice outfits yet it is mandatory to wear a black sports bra and black shorts to team practices. Maybe it's because we are in Vegas and its about 105 everyday!

Flyers should be required to wear spandex or Nike shorts (with the built ins). There's always that awkward grab when a stunt is going over your head.

But I would feel really awkward catching my flyer if she wasn't wearing a shirt. I mean, I'd get over it if I had to, but it'd be weird if she wore just a sports bra...also, one theory as to why gyms won't allow it may be because the pressure it puts on other girls who may not feel like they want to walk around in front of tons of other teenagers in spandex. Or parents, that's always a good guess. :D
