My competition schedule for the season. Im on Senior Red at GymTyme. Before y'all ask (Level isn't determined yet till the end of summer)
11/18/2012 NCA Nashville
12/8-9/2012 WSF Indianapolis
2/2-3/2012 Athletic Champ Columbus
2/24/2013 NCA Louisville
10/21/2012 Spirit Sports Lexington
3/9-10/2013 UCA Orlando
Excited of every competition except WSF because thats the only one I have previously attended and competed at. If you are going to any of the same comps PM me if you want to meet up or trade stuff!

SoH does draw some great teams and is a good sizable competition, I just hate the scoring grid with a fiery passion. Other than the grid, I love everything about SOH.
We're going to be at SOH. I think this is the only big one my cp's team is going to. The rest are little local dittys. We'll be at UCF in Columbia again, which was a fun, smaller two day comp that CAC sends its lower levels to. L3 didn't go last year, but will be going this year. We're also going to be at American Superstarz again. You were right about Cheersport. Just the locals but not the national. Maybe we can meet up sometime! I think that'd be great! ;)

Excellent! Well get to see each other then. We did UCF for our first two seasons and dropped it. It was a fun competition, well run with some cool prizes, but the score sheet is a deal breaker.

Most of our schedule's conveniently located in tornado alley. :) But at least as of right now, the NCD (that's me) will be at Jamfest Indy and probably at one of the Kalahari (WI) competitions. Our program's going to America's Best Nationals in KC in December, but I have commitments that weekend that'll almost certainly keep me home.

There's supposed to be at least one more big competition that'll be added to the schedule, but depending on the one we end up going to I may or may not be making an appearance. ;)

Here is what we have for UA's competition schedule this season:

10/28/12, Jamfest Megajam (Levels 1-4), DeKalb, IL (in my least favorite venue)
11/3/12, American Cheer Power, Chicago
11/17-18, JamLIVE, Schaumburg, IL
12/8-9, WSF Nationals, Indianapolis
1/13/13, COA, Chicago
1/19-20, Jamfest Super Nationals, Indianapolis
2/2-3, GLCC Grand Nationals, Chicago area
2/9-10, American Championships (Levels 1-4), Chicago area
3/1-2, NCA Nationals (Levels 4 & 5), Dallas
March competition, Levels 1-4, TBD, UCA Nationals hasn't been ruled out yet

I personally am hoping for no UCA in Orlando this year, just because the cost is brutal. There is talk of alternating years, but we'll see...

I hear you on that. We send some of our older kids to UCA, but going every year plus everything else on the schedule is kinda pocketbook brutal after a while. Add in the additional trips that may be getting added on our end and I could easily see $5K in travel and competition fees alone.

We're not poor by any means, but one trip to Disney was expensive enough. I can't imagine four or five of them in a row - and that's not even counting the days if/when we have teams that go to Worlds.

It is brutal. I did the math, and the trip, for my CP and me alone, sharing a hotel room with another mom and CP, cost a total of $2200. I'm fine with alternating years, but every year is stretching the cheer budget for me. I did fundraising to cover about $600 of that, but it is still a lot of money on top of our two trips to Indy. That Indy hotel tax is high!

We had a few families, with multiple kids in the program, that had to go to NCA in Dallas, UCA in Orlando, and then Worlds. I just couldn't...

We will be going to UCA Orlando for the 1st time this year, what are you including in the $2200 total? I went to Orlanda a couple of years ago for a competition but didn't spend nearly that much and went to 2 parks.

When I went 2 years ago, it cost my mom about 3,000 for her, myself, and my sister to go down for the four required days. We went down Friday and left Monday. It's awfully expensive!

Our gym requires you stay through the UCA package. For my cp and I sharing a quad for 2 nights in a room it was $900. Then air fare anywhere from $200-400RT. Food at Disney is outrageous. we usually estimate $50/per day per person, more if we plan on any sit down meals.

There are definitely cheaper ways to go, but when you're forced on property and to dine at Disney and ONLY stay the weekend (meaning flying fri-mon, when flights are typically most expensive), it can be brutal.

We didn't go through the UCA package because our gym was able to get a Disney hotel for a lower rate for us along with a charter bus that we used for our team transportation. Here's what it included:

$550 R/T airfare from Chicago for 2
$308 UCA Commuter Fee for Athletes not staying at the Allstar Sports Resort (includes their competition entry fees and park 3-day park hopper pass)
$209 3-Day Park Hopper Pass (required since some teams compete in the Disney parks)
$56 R/T Airport Shuttle
$244 Our Half of 3-night hotel stay at Disney Dolphin hotel
$600 Food, incidentals, souvenirs, etc.

We probably could have cut back on some of the souvenirs and stuff that was bought, but in my case, it was my CP's first time at Disney, first time on a plane, etc. So, we probably spent more on that than necessary, but the food at Disney is expensive!! I think the cheapest meal, for myself and my CP, as $25 and that was burgers and fries. We left early Friday morning and flew home Monday afternoon.

Since we are from Orlando we always go on the commuter package when we compete at uca and I am certain we have never paid 308 per athlete? as the comp fee.. That seems very high. We have always gotten the 3 day park Hopper pass included. I don't want to quote a wrong price but I know it is less than that...maybe more around 200.. per athlete.
