Hi! I was excited to see this cheerleading forum and thought it would be a great place to ask my question!

I am from a small suburb town in Indiana and my parents could not afford all star cheerleading. Instead, I was a high school cheerleader and now coach at a local middle school. I have kept up on my basic tumbling skills while coaching(backhandspring and tuck).

I will be moving out of state for graduate school and I want to keep cheerleading in my life, plus I think it will help with the moving out state fear I have. I am 24 years old and I am seeing trial divisions for open level 4.

Is 24 too old?

Thanks for your input!!

24 is not too old! No worries! Just find a gym with an Open 4 team and you should be on your way.
Good luck! :)

No way, I'm 24 an still doing an open team (though level 6, not 4). But there's a lot of people on the board who came back to cheering after a few years now that Open 4 exists, and theres a few cheerleaders on here who didn't even start cheering until their early 20s. Go for it! Every team is different, but I can't imagine you being the oldest on that team!

If there was an Open 4 team near me, I'd do it.

I'm 35. If you're too old, I'm ancient.

I say you should go for it!

I'm 24 and doing the i4 that my former gym has now! I feel old and god knows practices are going to be painful at the start since it's been 6 years since I've cheered, but I'm so, so excited there's in i4 around me now! I say it's definitely worth it for you to give it a shot!

if you think you're ready to just jump right back into cheer, go for it! I think that open 4 isgoing to be awesome! and open a lot more opportunities up to great cheerleaders that might not have l5 skills. best of luck to you!

Thank you everyone for your responses, it's hard sometimes when your in an area where there is not a lot of open teams or adult cheerleading opportunities. Sometimes I think people think I'm crazy when I tell them I want to cheer still. But seeing all these posts made me realize I'm not!
