It was great to see the melding of both athletes and coaches from Twisters & Marlins today at practice. We started at Marlins a long time ago and moved to Twisters years back. We were welcomed with open arms back then. In the very same way I see Tara & the Twisters welcoming all the Marlins athletes and treating them with professionalism and respect. Twisters has always provided a wonderful environment for my 2 girl to grow and succeed. Our family has just gotten bigger and I'm so grateful to the coaches for handling the situation with such integrity. GO TWISTERS!!! #1 FOREVER!!

Gotta love on Facebook Terri is thanking all her past coaches while juba is calling his competition "corrupt" great way to start out your new gym!

Although I like both coaches I can say neither is completely innocent. Juba is just a little more vocal and not afraid to say it in publi but for those of us that know them it is not a suprise. Things aren't always as neat and pretty as people would like to make you think it is.

I hope the other 40% just switched gyms. Its a shame to see kids dropping the sport they love just because of a merge.

From the people I have talked to most are trying the new Nitros. A few have given it up or decided to just tumble while things figure themselves out.

Or would like it to be. This is true IMO in most mergers where there has been a rivalry of some type.

Did you find the programs very different? Some Marlins are afraid they'll lose the family atmosphere.

Just funny how its always those with the biggest holes in their resumes are the ones who do the most talking

As I have said before although we have each choose our path I have a lot of respect for him. Some people may see it as holes, but what you may not know is that as far as I know from doing my own research he was the highest paid in each of the gyms when they parted ways. Some people are just more vocal about their convictions. Some may say that it makes them look bad and sometimes it does, but one thing is for certain you never wonder where they stand.

What gyms?

We also spent 4 years at Marlins prior to heading to Twisters for my CPs final 3 years of cheer (most of which overlapped with cdscheergirls). My CP was not a level 5 cheerleader but a solid 3 with some level 4 skills when we made the move. It was a difficult move, as most of my CPs childhood friends (elementary school friends and middle school friends were at Marlins). We moved because there just wasn't an age appropriate, level appropriate placement for her at Marlins. The move which was totally our choice, was difficult for her but we felt it was important for her to continue to progress in the sport she loved. Anyway, my point is that we quickly felt like a part of a family at Twisters. It is a bigger family, but we all cheered on each others kids and the kids really supported each other. We still consider the Twisters our cheer family and stay in touch with many families there. Look at the priority viewing section of any Twisters competition and you will find it packed with parents and kids from all the Twister teams going crazy for whatever team is up there!

Is this topic about the two team merging or is it about the bashing coaches? I think this thread has run its course...

This thread has been mostly positive and I think people are interested in how this merge (which is a big deal in Maryland cheer) is going. Please refrain from bashing those (coaches/athletes) that have made other choices.

I think that with any gym, you have to make an effort to form that "family" atmosphere that many us of parents desire at the gym.... I can honestly say that some of my best girlfriends (and continue to be) have been other cheer mommas that I have met at my daugters current and former cheer gyms... If you just drop off and roll, then your never meet any other parents and will feel like an outsider... If you stay and chat, you will meet other parents and form those "cheer family" bonds......
