Most college parties I went to people went with more of the...'risque' root if you will. And you can make anything 'risque' if you choose to. Senior year my roommates and I were sick of it and decided to be fun and dressed as Legends of the Hidden Temple. Best costume I've ever done. You can order the shirts online, we had helmets, knee pads, the works. We even had little Olmec bracelets we wore. So many more compliments on that costume than any of the previous 'risque' ones we did, and we were a lot more comfortable and warmer!!
I'm thinking go the risque route without being too much. I know my campus is a lot bigger than yours was so I basically have to walk close to a mile to get to anywhere. Warmth is a must.

There will be girls who wear nothing but a bra and panties and they will be miserable. My favorite warm/funny/risqué costume was being a flasher. Wear a trench coat with a nude bra and nude hot pants and unbutton the coat to "flash" people when they ask what you are

That's genius! I can't even bare to wear a skirt out anymore. But I'm thinking like 80s aerobics for one night.. Off the shoulder sweatshirt, sports bra, a leo/nike pros, tights?, leg warmers and heels.

I'm going as minnie Mouse this year, all i have left to do is make a minnie mouse bow, since i'm going to be at a cheer comp, and i get back like a half hour before trick or treating starts so being able to already have hair done is a must!

In the past ive been; Tinker bell, a bride, Egyptian, belly dancer, Dorthy from wizard of oz, fairy, turkish princess (i'm turkish), and a flapper just to name a few! My mom made all of them except the bride, I'll try to find photos! They are adorable costumes i must say:)

Hah 80s was my sophomore yr costume and I pretty much wore the same thing! It was perfect, didn't cost much, easy to 'make', and I was relatively warm! Win on all accounts. And agreed about the warmth thing, I went to UMass one year in a skankalicious outfit and I swear I had frostbite the next morning. Not well.

My niece and her friends are going as the cast of "Hunger Games". She's dressing up as Effie Trinket, and the others each picked a character. They're going to a party together. It should look great! My niece has already been practicing the phrase, "May the odds be EVER in your favor!"

Oh..here's a cute one...only recommended for the college crowd, though. It's easy to put together, and it can be made to be warm as well. Wear a leotard and tights, or something equally plain and simple. Put a lampshade on your head kind of like a hat. Cut out a round piece of cardboard and then put a slit in it so you can fit it around your waist (so it looks like a table). Get a round piece of fabric and cut a hole in the middle for your waist, and put it over the "table" like a tablecloth. You can get creative here. My friend who did this made an alarm clock out of cardboard and glued it to her "table", along with some pocket change, etc. Once it is done, you look like a side table. When people ask you what you're supposed to be, you can tell them you're a "One Night Stand." It's really cute and easy.

I'm going as Catwoman and my boyfriend is doing Batman :) We're going to a halloween party tonight so it'll be cool to see what everyone else is doing :)
