...What does your volleyball team play in.

If they wear the tight compression shorts...I would start there...If you really want to press the issue

This seems like a good argument for not having to wear the body liner at games, but not so much for getting out of wearing it at school. I doubt any of the girls on the volleyball team get to wear those compression shorts during the school day.

Yuck hate hot weather, we had to cheer at a game this afternoon, making up for a rain-out over the weekend. It was sooo hot and humid I thought of this and how it would be so uncomfortable wearing long sleeves! Some of my friends still wear long sleeves with the uniform during the school day and take them off at game time, but when it's 92 degrees and hot in the school im def not wearing anything under my shell. Our school doesn't really enforce the dress code but nobody really abuses it either. I know our uniforms violate it but in the last few years never heard a thing. Although today I forgot to take out my BB ring this morning before school, luckily my friend saw it when I was reaching up into my locker right before our game...ooops, took it right out! Woulda been in big trouble with my coach!

We actually just started to do so this year & we had to buy a black under armor long sleeve to wear under it. I actually like it just because it's one less outfit I have to plan for the week :D

It wasn't our tops that violated dress code it was our skirts:)... So now the girls wear one of their cheer shirts or jerseys on game day.

my daughter played volleyball and would wear the jersey to school but never the spandex except to play in.

Right. One would not expect them to wear the spandex to school, which is why I asked who they played in...not what they wore to school on game days. Wearing the uniforms to games is one of the issues the OP mentioned. Not being allowed to wear a uniform to school on game days isn't necessarily a big seal...however them not being allowed cheer in them at a Friday night football game is not fair especially if other sports (volleyball) are playing in spanx

We don't have issues with dress code for our shell but we have to wear our baggy soft warm up sweatpants on game days. I live in Texas and it seams like my legs get soo hot all the time wearing the sweatpants! (I'm in middle school)

This is what my high school does! Our tops violate our dress code though, we have to wear our bodyliners because the shell is considered a tanktop and those aren't alowed. Our skirts are really short and the JV girls (Im on varsity) wore their skirts one day and they got in trouble so our coach decided we would wear our shells with bodyliners or just the shell with our warmup jacket and we have to wear the warmup pants as well. :)

We can't wear our uniforms to school on game days unless we wear our sweatpants under the skirt, bodyliner under the top, and our jackets on. 1. It doesnt look good... Its really cold in my school though (people joke that the "A" in HVA doesn't stand for academy, but Antarctica. haha) and 2. its really uncomfortable and i would much rather wear one of the team tshirts we bought, our warm up jacket, and jeans.

I have to wear my uniform to one of my classes this week... Class gets out at 4:50 and there's an event across campus at 5.
It's gonna be so weird, like I'm back in high school!

I've actually been enjoying our 2 day/week uniform days this month. We had homecoming, football games, and have been cheering at some of the volleyball games...makes my outfit planning for the week really easy! This week we have "retro week" so we dug out all the old uniforms from the 80's and 90's and all of us are wearing a different one thursday and friday. Its amazing how good of shape they are still in! I'm going with a USC-style t- neck sweater and pleated skirt thursday...sooo 80's LOL and friday i'm going with an older button front shell vest and a flyaway. Pretty cool idea by one of the girls.

Kelly I would argue it to your principal (I love debating haha) but if she is focusing on you wearing bodyliners and covering the shell for school then maybe it DOES violates a dress code rule somewhere. Ask what it is but try on all your uniforms before and check carefully-are your shells too small or too short, does your stomach ever show, can you feel any bare skin showing when sitting- reach around and check, do girls have tattoos or piercings showing, are any bra straps showing, deep necklines etc. If yours is okay, make sure you check out your teammates to see if they have anything that could be dress code related. If everything is legit than you should argue-but if not than get those shell tops altered or cover up with liners underneath. And check your skirts as well, make sure they are proper length or wear leggings just in case.

Just my advice, let us know what happens.

An update- the principal that was making a big deal about it actually got reassigned to the middle school so nobody ever brought it up again! We were going to argue but in reality she had a point. Our shells are def a bit too short, mainly the older ones from a few years ago, my coach wanted us to still make good use of them. We are still able to wear them to school with no bodyliner, although it is getting chilly now so I'll prolly start wearing long sleeves. I'm never really in too much dress rule violation, one girl totally need a bigger size top and my coach had her trade with another girl. My bra straps are never showing, my BB piercing was covered (took it out anyway), and my stomach mostly stays covered, maybe a tiny line of skin shows with one of the older shells, but all of them show some of my lower back an inch or so, however most shirts will do that when you sit! So glad it isn't an issue anymore, it was starting to tick my coach off big time. Thanks for the advice! ~~KL

I had to do that. I just wore my warm up jacket over it. Most people realize you are a cheerleader and don't tend to give you weird looks.

our uniforms really don't violate dress code, how long are your shorts, if someone can fit 4 fingers between the end of the skirt and your b=but (on ttop of skirt) you should be meeting dress code. I would argue, since this is your uniform, other sports at out schools have sleeveless uniforms much like the shell and they are allowed to wear it, so they allow the cheerleaders to.:)
we only need to fit 2 fingers, our school tried to complain about it and how its 'distracting' but my coach said if they have a problem they can buy us nike pro's to wear under our skirts (our school is poor), and we got our way.
