So... my dream has come true and I'll be competing at the ICU world. :D We'll be staying in a hotel in orlando from saturday to wednesday and then move to the Allstar Resort for wednesday to sunday. Me and 2 teammates are planning on staying two more nights before we fly back and I'm right now trying to look for a place to stay.
I was hoping, you could give us some tips:
It should'nt be too expensive but clean and not exactly next to a highway. We also really want to do some shopping (esp. Nike and the like but also other clothes and maybe electronics ^^) so I'm wondering, whether there is a special mall that has all this (doesn't need to be haute couture just regular stuff).

Is there existing public transport in Orlando? If not, we'd probably best go for a hotel near a designated shopping area. ;)

You see, we're pretty clueless so any help would be immensly appreciated! <3

If you're going to buy electronics don't forget that Americans have 110V adn we (europeans) have 220V. So it probably won't work here.

DVDs don't always work when you bring them back. Take tags off clothes before you get to the airport otherwise you can get taxed. I went here
Orlando Premium Outlets - Vineland Ave
last year and also The Florida Mall®, a Simon Mall I got a taxi there and back but definately get a yellow taxi they are so much cheaper. We had a private driver the first time I went and it was over $100 from old town Kissimmee to the Florida mall. Unless you are driving I would stay in an area with things to do other than shop simply because its a pain to do anything otherwise! We also got a bus one day but these are difficult to understand if you're from Europe I found! I think Florida Mall has a hotel?

It took me 2 years to learn all this so this year I'm having my parents come (I went with friends before) so they can drive me round Tuesday-Friday then they are going to a beach resort while worlds is on! I'm staying in allstar sports!

I went to college in Orlando, I can help! Check out one of the Hilton Grand Vacation Clubs (there are 3 and no, you do not need to be a member to stay!) Great hotel, amazing size and nice pool and such. One of them, international drive, is walking distance from an Okay outlet mall, Premium (the other one, prime is about 4 miles east on I4). The other ones include one at Sea World and Parc Soleil (my personal favorite!). There are a few malls in Orlando, but the two main ones are the mall at millenia and the Florida Mall (as lucyemma said!) :) Also, if you stay on International drive you have not only the outlet mall walking distance but there is a Trolly that goes up and down Idrive that is very cheap. International drive has Pointe Orlando (a shopping/dinning stop) and many many restaurants. Hope I have helped and CONGRATS!! :) :)
