ANYWAY... I walked into a trampoline once because I didn't see it in front of me.
True Story- When I was in high school we had these things called "portables" which were basically trailers until the school finished its expansion. Anyway, I took my Algebra class in one and they had these wooden ramps you had to walk up to get to the entrance. It was raining one day and was slick, and I busted my a** books, purse, etc. go flying everywhere right in front of everyone. Aside from that being embarrassing enough, the most gorgeous guy I had ever (and never before) seen at our school leans over with the most charming smile, while I'm still on the ground and lends me his hand to help me get up (while also picking up all my strewn items). I was so embarrassed but sooo nervously excited at the thought of seeing him again!! Never saw him again!!!! and we went to a fairly small school where everyone basically knew everyone. I think my graduating class was just a tad over 200? *sigh*

Goodness, it is the silly season for sure. Kids miss for a variety of reasons. Family illness, acute illness with one or multiple athletes (ever been to NCA with 1/2 a team with the flu? I was in 2006), school, travel, and yes injury. In a team of 36 over a year it is guaranteed you will have kids out at some point, and really almost every competition is seems. Does not have to be an acute injury and does not have to be cheer related. On these high profile teams to not have someone prepared to step in when someone is out is not doing your job. Now, for instance, SE has 37 athletes going to Vegas with probably 100 family members or much more. I suspect each family is spending a minimum of 2k but probably more since flights are at least $300. Now with entry fees and others expenses this one team is spending over 100k on the trip. Big investment of time and money. Since we want them to perform well, and cannot predict a severe ankle sprain or acute influenza (have seen 20 confirmed cases this week, so it is hitting early) or a sick family member, or whatever, it pays to be prepared. We want them to have their best shot at being successful. Now, maybe move on to something more important, like the next Honey Boo Boo pageant result.
I believe NC is among the top three states for all but an epidemic of viruses right now. I am just getting over a lovely upper respiratory thing, 6 of our J4 were outlast night, our school had almost 180 absences average since Thursday (my athletic director only teaches two periods and had 16 kids out) and the children's clinic reported something like 100 cases of flu over this past weekend. My Facebook feed has turned into its own caringbridge. My daughter's bestie on J4s mom works at our pediatrician's office and came in last night after the night clinic hours saying they had to call a doc in on her off day because they couldn't handle the volume.

I'd say if Vegas is anytime soon, it's a miracle if you DON'T have multiple team members sick. One alternate might not be enough!

Strep, flu, bronchitis, stomach bug and this upper respiratory thing. It's ravaging the state. I just hope it blows through, everybody gets what they're gonna get so we can all get over it. Yuck!

180 out of how many total!? That's a lot!

I'm fully aware injuries happen. Just saying if they happen every season from things in the gym then that's a problem.

Sent from my SCH-I535 using Tapatalk 2

I have never ever been at a gym that has been injury free for an entire season. Heck just yesterday, I injured myself while carefully working out (proper technique, progression etc. on well maintained gym equipment with excellent lighting, floor space and no one pushing me beyond my limits.)

Oh and njallday - last I checked, Rich was the one slinging accusations, just sayin

I think "accusing" someone of using a proxy isn't really quite the same thing- I assumed he was, I didn't post repulsive and unfounded allegations of him the way he did. But please continue, as you were saying..... you're not trying to get involved in the drama?

okay. i wasn't on the boards when whatever went down occurred. i was at work and missed it. so i literally do not know what the drama was involving him. i actually don't even know him. i was merely pointing out that both people who were banned that night have been allowed to make new accounts. i didn't think that was a secret.

It's a problem when someone says they "always" have injuries. With proper training conditioning and coaching shouldn't a team be able to go injury free?

Remember that injuries don't always happen in the all star gym. I had a youth boy break his foot doing pop warner football, a Sr 5 girl break her hand at school cheer, a Sr 5 girl had a car wreck and in a neck brace for 2 weeks, and a Mini in the ER over this past weekend's competition with a bowel issue. These all affected my teams over a competition this season so far!
