As an extra side note, the show we bought into was supposed to be a pilot about 5 moms with children in very active sports who will go to great lengths to support them (ie. drive crazy miles to practices, wake up at the crack of dawn to curl hair, etc). After signing, the show was completely changed and morphed into what will air tonight.

Don't mean to spoil the banter and gossip that will surely follow the show. Can't say much, but given the opportunity to do it all over again, we wouldn't. All I can say is reality tv is anything but. Last I checked, life isn't scripted or staged. I guess real life wouldn't get very good ratings. Of course realizing this after you signed on the dotted line doesn't do you any good. Heck, live and learn right. Bait and switch seems like an understatement. Now feel free to carry on!

Ugh! So you've seen the edited final product? Dang! I was hoping for a fun, competitive little show. Hopefully we'll at least get to see a little of Amanda's skills.

Of course after all the confessions on FB today I'm sure Debbie has nothing to be ashamed of. ;-)

Haven't seen it, but based on the shenanigans they asked Debbie to do on camera to "make the show more exciting and drama filled", I'm expecting the worst. Was actually hoping it might die on the cutting room floor. But hey, it's been rather boring on the boards over the last few weeks without some good ole drama! <-- Insert sarcastic sigh here. So I'll buckle up and enjoy the chuckles. LOL

Sorry you guys had to learn this the hard way.

Part of me is hoping these "scripted reality" shows start going away.

I was hoping he would have died out based on what I heard back then but I guess not.

Seeing as to the fact that it was filmed 11 months ago, I really thought it was dead. Guess they resurrected it. We too were hoping for an honest show that would show the real sport of Allstar Cheer and the challenges it presents. It's the only reason we signed up. Unfortunately, the contracts are open ended and allow them to make whatever "directorial" changes they feel are "necessary". You can figure out the rest.

So much has changed since then.

No offense, but didn't you think it was entirely possible that was gonna be the case? Haven't we all learned our lesson by everyone else's past mistakes (like the "sports" article on our Raleigh gym, that god awful cheer show-can't remember the name at the moment, all of the actual shows on television about pageants, cheerleading, etc.)? I think this clip kinda sums it up regarding the realm of television..

Obviously there are a couple of good ones-like the CJA show, the CNN special...but they're certainly far and few between. When you sign on the dotted line, I would think you'd at least have an attorney for representation to explain it to you. If you knew the contract was "open ended" as you describe, then you had to have at least made room for the possibility that this would be the case right?

Of course we knew. Hope is a powerful thing. Especially when those creating the show are so adamant it will not be "that kind of show". But, make no mistake, I'm not deflecting here. We signed and take responsibility for that, so it's open season ;-) Fire away!! We can take the heat. We're a tight knit loving family who know what's really important and nothing will ever change that!

I was solicited to participate in this show last December. When I spoke with them on the phone they wanted to know what kind of "crazy" things I did for my CP to be at her best. Someone must have tipped them off about the insane commute that we do.
I got the vibe they were looking for a crazy psycho suzie mom. It didn't sit well, It was shortly after the dance mom show was all the talk. We politely declined.

I appreciate your honesty!

Thank you again for your honesty and for being open about your experience. I hope we can all learn from the experiences you are sharing, rather than criticize your decision to say yes to the show.

Oh no I just saw the preview. This makes me sad that they look at our industry for the drama. It is upsetting that they would use these talented kids (and dedicated parents) to make a mockery out of our sport. I met John and Gabi at worlds 2 years ago (when she had the broken leg) and both were so kind and happily took a picture with my daughter. Im sorry they conned you guys into this. Live and learn...
