There is that one Mom at every gym that thinks she owns the joint and her daughter is the best and can do whatever she wants and everyone loves her. The older cheerleaders carry her around like she is a baby when he is like 11. The Mom always says the stupidest things. She is "One Base Short of a Stung Group!"

When people wear their bows facing backwards. Our rule is, for school, you can wear your hair however you want as long as you have your bow in. for games, your hair has to be UP, bangs BACK, and bow FACING FORWARD. but people don't do it. I wish everyone would put their bow forward all the time! Even at school! I do... I guess it's the allstar in me.
It also drives me crazy when people put their bow so you can hardly see it. Why did you pay $10 for a bow if nobody can see it? Put your ponytail up high!

People who quit easily after getting injured. If you are stepping out because of a little injury, while this affect your whole team, really always bothers me.

I completely agree! If you truly love the sport, you wont give it up for anything. I have competed with a cast on multiple times, and I am still just as willing to cheer as ever.

My opinion has always been, if you don't have the intestinal fortitude to enforce the rule across the board (including with your favorite kids, the kids with the epic nutcase cheer moms, the quiet kids and/or the ones you don't like) then don't even make it a rule.

If you're not going to have a spine enough to say the same thing to EVERYONE (rather than just letting your rule follower folks do it because that's who they are, then stick your head in the sand over the non-rule followers with the crazy cheer moms you don't want to lock horns with) then just don't make it a rule in the first place so the rule followers don't feel like they're the only ones made to actually toe the line while everyone else gets to do whatever they want.

Because for as much as rule followers will talk about how THEY are going to do whatever they want next...since it clearly doesn't matter....we won't. Because we can't bring ourselves to break the rules, even when we want to and know there will be no consequences. Instead, we just get annoyed that no one else has our rule-following character....and no one else is making them have it either.

What is sad is that I am the ultimate rule follower. It kills me inside to break the rules. But after 5 years of sitting at home during fall break while the rest of the gym seems to be somewhere tropical and fun, I think it's time to go on vacation. (Unfortunately I'll still feel guilty about it.).

Even the die hard rule followers will eventually give in if the rules aren't enforced.

Amen.

"rules are more what you'd call "guidelines" than actual rules"

Excuses. I can't stand them. Whether it's for missing practice, not throwing a skill, not stretching, or whatever, I will start hating whoever has them little by little. Unless someone died, you have a cast on, or you're throwing up every thirty seconds, you better be here and work hard.

Probably my biggest one is when the flyer blames the bases for everything wrong in the stunt, and still can't hit the stunt on the biggest bases in the gym:rolleyes:

-When the team who knows they got first place jumps around and gets excited when the second place team gets called.
-When another team gives you dirty looks during warm ups.
-The fatty foods they sell at competition.
-Teammates that act like its all good when we're about to go to warm ups and they just walk through the doors.
-Having to sit through awards while they make us dance and catch beach balls and plastic necklaces.
-When my bow used to fall off during competitions (I cut my hair, so I wear a headband now!)
-When a girl has a flat or awkwardly shaped bump in her hair.
-I don't really like straight cheer hair, but our team has to have it.
