What Do You Eat/drink Before A Comp??

My CP won't eat any later than 3 hours before she competes and she tries to eat light when/if she does eat. If she's full or eats heavy, greasy foods she's sluggish and it really affects her performance. Some examples of what she eats early are: eggs and whole wheat toast or english muffin, small salad with grilled chicken and fat-free dressing, banana (for potassium - it helps muscles perform) with a handful of nuts or PB, protein bar with at least 12g protein.

To help with blood sugar issues make sure you're eating fiber and protein. Those will help keep your blood sugar level much more steady than sweets or "white" carbs - those make your blood sugar spike high and then crash. Always have a protein with your carbs/sugars, too. So, if you eat a fruit have cheese or nuts with it, etc.

I usually encourage my athletes to eat well (big enough portions and healthy/filling foods) for the days leading up to competition. Some people are just incapable of eating what their body NEEDS when they are nervous. Eating well the days before can compensate a little.

There are lots of shakes that are meal "replacements". I drink them whenever I'm not hungry enough for a meal but still want a snack, just because it's going to sort of help suppress my hunger haha.

But like everyone else suggested, just healthy little snacks and stuff are good.

i do not eat anything until i am done competing on both my teams

Like all day? That's really not good, you could easily pass out. One game a football player passed out right after the game, he had eaten that day but just not enough. Fruit, granola, or even a smoothie aren't that heavy but would keep you going.

I usually can't eat anything the day of a competition. Even if I try to, nothing seems appetizing because I am too nervous. If we are competing really late though, I can usually have a good breakfast but I usually will have no appetite by lunch.

I always eat cereal, a meat, and bread like muffins, bagels, toast, or something like that. don't eat anything too sugary though especially if you have blood sugar problems. i always drink juice that morning and water right before i perform. personally, i don't think about what i eat before i compete. i just make sure to get a lot of rest.

To be honest - nothing. I always tell my girls to take snacks with them like fruits, vegetables, cereal bars and water if they can´t eat a whole meal. At competitions over here you can´t buy anything healthy. There are just burgers, hot dogs and all this high-fat and low-energy stuff.

I just can´t eat at competition days. Not because i´m nervous, it´s just a day full of stress. But i try to take some smoothies with me, even though they aren´t really healthy i feel like i had something that´s good for my body.

And i have to confess: I don´t want to look "fat" in my uniform.
