All-Star Lying About Cheering At A Gym

This has been going on with a certain girl in my area who's friends with a girl who was on my team at my old gym. She first said she cheered there, then said she cheered at my gym. She said she was on almost every team from that gym, even teams that existed last year that don't anymore. Then, she posted a photo of my team winning US Finals last year and said she missed being on that team. When I asked her why she was saying she was on my team, she said she was filling in...

George annoys me but I'm super nice to him. I try to not let what he says affect me but it's like an annoying bug biting me over and over.

ugh, that's rough. I'd put him in his place though--why should he get the credit for something he hasn't earned?

As much as we bash other people for doing it, we've all done it at least once in our lives in or outside of cheerleading. Like telling a guy you like that you have a hobby similar to his or telling your friend that you had a better test score than them. We do it for a majority of reasons and although it's not right, it happens. People want to be accepted.

Yes, I agree to an extent. But I feel like when individuals lie about being at a certain gym or on a team its a lot more in depth than if they tell a friend their 'fake' test score. for example in xoxotumblerforeverxoxo 's situation they went to the extent of posting pictures and compulsive lying...
Like its more than just 'one lie' its someone giving themselves almost a fake identity to the 'cheer world'.
does this make sense? aha

I used to cheer at a small gym in my area, where I. Traveled the farthest at 30 each way to practice, so everyone knew eachother pretty well lived walking distance away went to the same school ect. I out grew th program and had other problems there and switched to the largest gym in the area. An hour drive each way but worth it! Any ways I was at a competion and was with some of the girls from my old team and met some that I didn't know from before. We got to talking and I found out she apparently cheer there while I was still in the program. I asked her about what teams she was on during the yrs. I was there, she claimed to be on every team I had been, thought it was weired that I didn't remeber her in the slightest.. I was a cross over from jr. To sr. And there was only two of us that did that and we were pretty close friends... I still don't know if she was pretending to be me or my friend or if maybe she has the yrs.mixed up I always have a good laugh when I think about it tho.

This was a while ago.. maybe jan 2012 when i had the convo with this girl....

So this girl on YouTube really liked Jaylens videos. She commented and asking me all kinds of questions, and wanted to add me on Facebook.

So I let her and then started messaging me, she sent me this video

Claiming she is the girl in the video..front row in opening with ankle brace...

Well I'm cool with one of the rather popular athletes on that team so I was like oh you know him and she was like I cheer at the other ace gym... But y'all aren't on the same team but he's on that team? Um ok?!!!(( She hasn't claimed to cheer on that team this season but apparently she did the last two seasons)). So many things don't add up. She isn't a bad cheerleader she posts videos of herself and she has standing tucks, jumps, and almost a full but she just isn't the warriors girl.

The girl is sweet and young so I feel really bad for her but just don't have the heart to confront her!!

But if you get caught you feel stupid, regardless of the lie. Lying isn't cool, funny and shouldn't be acceptable in any form. If someone has to lie to feel accepted I consider them pathetic. Justifying a lie is sad.

I think it's sad that some people feel like being on a lower level or not cheering at a mega gym is something to be ashamed of and they feel the need to lie about where they cheer, what tumbling they have, going to Worlds, being on a level 5 team, etc. There's a girl on Instagram who claims to have cheered at Cali, a gym in Florida and won Worlds with Cheetahs last season...considering her age and that she posts blurry pictures, some of which are clearly found on the Internet, it's safe to assume that she's lying. If you're on a lower level, that's great. Being on a higher level might seem "glamorous" but if you keep working on skills and get better, you won't have to lie. Or just learn to be comfortable with whatever small gym/level you're at! Alright, rant over.

There was a girl at my school that had told a lot of people she was on a cheer team a couple of years ago. I was on the team during the year she had named and knew she didn't cheer for that team or for any team in the gym for that matter. I didn't say anything though because I didn't care that much, lying is on her consience not mine. Well, aparently word had gotten to her that I had cheered for that team that year and she started telling people I was a fake cheerleader. She basically turned the tables. I don't typically try out for school cheerleading at my high school but that year I wasn't doing allstars but needed to cheer, so I decided to tryout. I got through the first day of tryouts and didn't come back because every cheerleader at the school and even some non-cheerleaders now knows me as the fake cheerleader.

That's awful. I only cheered for two years for my high school and I was done after that because I hated it so much. But what she did was completely wrong. She might not realize the damage she did, but that's still not an acceptable thing to do. I'm so sorry. People aren't always the nicest and can be extremely petty at times.

I agree with both of you, lying isn't right but it's human nature. Do I think some people take it way too far... obviously but at the end of the day, they're the ones doing something wrong.
