I'm sure I can't be the only one who is really over all of this Trinity drama. The way I see it, Gianni started a new gym with the help of the Davenports, who used their money to fund a lot of things that some people may not like, but they can't be the first ones to do it, and some of these crazy things people think they offered were probably rumors or lies. I really don't think people would be offering up such absurd benefits (clothing lines? really?) just in return for cheering for their gym, though I do not doubt that free tuition, uniforms, etc. were thrown out there. Gianni, as a long-time persona in the cheerleading world with many connections, wanted to find athletes for his new gym. While it is not right to "steal" athletes from another gym, these athletes did go willingly, no one forced them. JP did, in some sense, have a legitimate reason to be mad about very talented athletes leaving. But was it necessary to lash out the way he did? Absolutely not. Personally, I think he acted like a child and seriously embarrassed himself, especially since it is beginning to look like he began many of the Trinity rumors. I really think this drama would have blown over much more quickly had he not spoken out so publicly about Trinity.

I do not think he is completely at fault, though. The coaches and owners of Trinity countered JP's attacks in the completely wrong fashion. They only made it worse for themselves, and brought themselves down to JP's level, possibly even lower as some might argue. I think there is a lot they could have done to take the high road and make themselves actually look good to the cheer world, but they chose the path of retaliation instead. However, I do have to commend them for facing all of the backlash head on, even if it did only cause more problems.

Overall, I think it's just very sad that the athletes are having to deal with the brunt of the criticism, and that people are taking out their frustration with the coaches/owners on the athletes by criticizing what, all hate aside, is not a terrible routine. There are some really talented kids on that team, and I hate to think that they are already being labeled because of the poor decisions of some adults that are supposed to have the kids' best interests at heart. I think the adults acted immature and perpetuated a great deal of drama that should have just been settled between two grown men. Now I think people need to start to forget about it because what's done is done. Both gyms have begun their seasons now and nothing can be taken back that has been said or done by either party. This should be about the athletes, and the owners and coaches who hold so much hostility towards each other should have the decency to finally set their differences aside for the benefit of their athletes and the sport.

The fact that this gym is offering scholarships to those with a love for cheer but not the funds outweigh most catty notions I had about them. I appreciate Chris' dignified and educated responses. However, I am lost. Its hard to defend someone when they constantly prove everyone's prejudgments to be true. In an earlier post he commented saying that they sit around and think of ways to embellish the newest rumors. Since you guys are doing so much for multiple communities embellish those positive characteristics, instead of feeding the dislike of your gym. Instead of buying a plane to simply showboat, use those thousands of dollars to recruit even more athletes in inner cities.

ChrisGulliTrinity I would imagine if they're struggling so much a lot of them don't have cars or parents who have the time and resources to transport them. Does Trinity provide a way for them to get to the gym too?

There are more athletes that live south of those athletes, most of them are at the same schools and carpool with the other teammates. I've had to go pick up a few on multiple occasions.

how about we hear some reasoning from the mouth of a Trinity cheerleader..

I left Georgia, along with a few other athletes at Trinity, because of the lack of respect Jamie Parrish has for ANYONE who isnt right in his eyes.. has he provided a great cheerleading expirience for me over the past few years? yes. But when an old coach (Gianni DeNegri) provides an oppurtunity to help me get my life started in return for being on his team, and I get harassed and torn apart by Jamie just because I went to see Gianni, it really shows that someone whos always told me they love me like a child, really only cares about himself and how he is viewed by others.

Lets clarify some things for everyone:

1) I have not been paid a dime since I stepped foot into Trinity Athletics, nor has any other athlete on the team
(I am on scholarship because of the skills I provide, and because of lack of money, therefor I do not pay tuition.. same deal I had at GA)

2) If by our "behavior" and "lack of class" you mean us congratulating every team that placed ahead of us this weekend, than Im sorry you feel this way. How many conversations have you had with a Trinity cheerleader? ....... chirp

3) Our music has got to be the most sarcastic thing I have heard in our life.. if anyone believes that someone would actually put "finest team money can buy" in their music and it be serious, chill out. Because of all the rumors of money and jetskis and houses that have been growing since the start (many created by JP, on news reports and such), its only necessary to give the bullies nothing else to talk about when our music agrees with them. (PS, the Jamie Parrish voiceover mix was not heard by us until Jamie Parrish released it..... funny huh?)

4) if ANYONE wants to attack Corinth Davenport and her husband for reaching out into the lives of less fortunate kids and providing them with a safe place to escape their home lives in their less-than-safe neighborhoods, take a step back and think about the last time you've made an impact on someones life, because you might be over due.

This whole thing started as a way to make a HUGE impact on the lives of our athletes. It started as something far more important than cheerleading; in fact it continues to portray its benefits beyond cheerleading. These kids are beginning to see that there is life outside of, for some of them, the ghetto. It just happens to be that this life outside, is on Trinity D&G.

But everything is here nor there. Rumors will be spread with no solid evidence to stand behind them, and that is just the cheerleading world for ya. And for the people who believe them, once again, Im sorry you feel that way.

oh one more thing.... that day one performance was our 3rd time going full-out, due to injury after injury after injury on our team.... so please reconsider your opinion of it.

SORRY IM NOT SORRY ABOUT IT[/

I was good on some of this until you said kids from the Ghetto and from less safe neighborhoods. Looks like quite a bit are from the Lithonia, McDonough, Ellenwood which are hardly the ghetto, for people not familiar with the ATL area there are no gyms in the "ghetto" areas of ATL.

The bus actually doubles as a public transportation vehicle that picks up cheerleaders and takes them to practice...I mean, I wouldn't doubt it.

This is actually a really smart idea since they already have the bus. Where I go to school there is a gymnastics gym that has a bus that picks kids up from school and takes them to the gym. Gets kids there to train earlier, more time in the gym, and it's easier on parents. Brilliant plan IMO

Arguable that they've done ENOUGH, but they have done a good amount of running tumbling in the routine, it's just a matter of whether a judge will reward them when almost all of their running tumbling is sync tumbling.
Isn't sync tumbling worth more anyway?

I agree 10000000% can we now just move on..Hey who saw the Grape Rays in Chattanooga? Can anyone post a video?

Well since I was tagged that means I'm it. (right? I think I learned everything I need to know in kindergarten or something like that)

ChrisGulliTrinity that's wonderful that the owners of your gym are philanthropists trying to include kids that can't afford cheer. Most do not show off they're philanthropic endeavors in the manner your gym has.

I simply have a bad taste in my mouth because this isn't a hobby for me and I work very hard to make all star cheer a positive experience in my own little corner of the world. The catty, public fight between your gym and JP is what made me dislike the whole situation. It was unprofessional and silly. To me, it sets everyone back and makes us all look like a really bad reality show on TLC. I have a harder time selling my product (coaching kids in an extreme sport) when parents think this sort of thing is what they'll be signing up for because they want no part of that. They want their kids to make friends, belong to a team, learn discipline, unconditional respect, teamwork and some cool skills. All of that is negated by behavior like the kind your gym (and the other gym) displayed for all to see.

I am not a volunteer and I cannot pay for kids to cheer. I need to work to make money and support my family. Not everyone can participate and that is sad. But not everyone can do everything they want in all aspects of life. So I'm sorry if my heart isn't won over by the fact that Trinity is giving kids a hand out with scholarships. I don't think anyone is that impressed by it because all of us offer discounts and the like on occasion---some more than others. It's not enough in my mind to make up for the damage done to our overall reputation as a sport.

It's ok if I don't like the way your gym conducts business. We all have our own way of handling our own business. It's not ok however, for your gym to secondarily tarnish my reputation as a member of this sport, over a fight between two coaches that "spilled out into the streets".

I hope your gym can find its footing and try a different tactic that we can all be proud of.

Please forgive my use of the word ghetto. I grew up in a place where places outside of the suburbs that lay on the out skirts of the city were considered such. I did not mean to offend, however I know that compared to upper Fulton county, these areas are known to be a bit less fortunate. Not to say everyone from there is ghetto or dirt poor, but there are areas surrounding these towns that are not to say the best place to live. A few of which some athletes reside from. Needless to say, the athletes needed help, and Cori reached out to help them.
