So, I' am trying to wrap my head around how this travel stuff works. From the looks of the website, it seems the travel packages work the same way Worlds does. So, 'splain this to me. You have a random family of 4 with an 8 year old youth 5 CP who wins a full-paid bid to the Summit. Great! So, the full-paid package gets the athlete 4 nights of hotel accommodations in a Quad room at the Disney Allstar Resort. Obviously, the family isn't going to send the CP with a chaperone, she is only 8. Nobody in the family has ever been to Disney before as they live in.... Minnesota. So, obviously they are all going to go. How does this lodging work? Since it is a quad room, does the family have to pass on the CP having lodging that she earned, and pay for a separate room, or b)let their CP stay in the room with teammates, and find another family and rent a room big enough for six, or c)rent the rest of the room at whatever rate the room costs for those 4 nights?

Also, how large is this event supposed to be in comparison to Worlds. I mean, I get that total athletes it may not be as big as Worlds, but when you consider the ages of the athletes involved, and the amount of people potentially travelling with them, will there be enough lodging for everyone? A lot of people let their 14-18 year olds travel without them, but younger than that....

I would hope that when filling out the registration there will be a way to use the childs credit they they have recieved. Maybe if you go through the gym and the gym sends in everyones stuff and they will get a credit and the rest will be divided out properly so the younger kids can stay in the room.

I live in Minnesota and have been to Disney 9 times in 6 years. Just an FYI. haha ;-)

HAHA! As soon as I typed that I thought of you. Not that people who live in Minnesota don't go to Disney, but it's certainly not just a "let's just put the kids in the car and go today" type thing ;)

MomOf2ThatsMe I haven't seen the rest of the package but the way Worlds works is that the gym receives the exact number of room spots based on the bid. So with a small team of 20, there are 5 rooms of quad occupancy. If the gym chooses to include family room reservations the team registration, they MAY get rooms all in the same block or often times the parents will get the same hotel, but a different area than the teams are in. We managed this by having the team parents and chaperones stay with the kids.

That is how I saw it work at the All Star resort the last 4 years. Can't speak for teams that chose to stay at other hotels under the package.

Ok, so basically with a paid bid you get a corresponsing number of beds/rooms for free, and anything else costs you (obviously) and the gym is free to divy them up how they see fit?

I wouldn't say that. Using the Worlds process, you will get rooms allocated in the names of the kids on the final roster. I suppose you could try to stretch the room allocation to include chaperones and families where the child will stay near, but not in the same room as the other kids, but that may not gaurantee everyone from a team, including family will get housed together.

We are getting into lots of "what-ifs" here. The team parent/coach/gym owner should probably work these details out with the Varsity rep for the Summit to see how they are going to work it.

Hello All, I hope I am not the only one looking for answers on this. I have teams attending Worlds and The Summit. I am just in need of some direction on how to plan for myself and staff. With the two being back to back, I do not plan on flying us all back and forth. We will go for Worlds and stay through The Summit. However, the two events, do not have a conjoined package. I have discovered several options, but even with those, there are no hopper passes that include entry into both events uploaded on them. A 5 day hopper would be great, but there is no option to have both events on it. Even buying packages for both events, there is a gap in between the two.

For those of you wondering, registration is able to be done online for The Summit & athletes are permitted to room with their parents even if your team earns a full paid bid.

Hi my team is trying to get a bid to summit so i have been researching it frequently lately. Not sure if we are going to get paid or at-large. I just wanted to know about the hotel room options for this competition. Me and a few of my teammates (there are 4 or 5 of us) were planning to possibly stay with 2 other moms so in total 6 or 7 people. I understand that with a paid bid you get a certain amount of rooms? I just wanted to know if staying with 6 or 7 people would be possible with a bid because of the room capacity.

If you have a paid bid, it works similar to the Worlds package. 4 to a room, must stay in the Hotel options they give you. If you go on an at large, you can do what you want.

@MomOf2ThatsMe any news or answers on this yet? In the past we have worked it out the following way, let me know if this makes sense: The gym in total has 28 people coaches /parents/kids included going on the package. You will get 7 rooms, 28 park hopper passes and 28 passes with names on them for the event transportation. Once I checked in and got the room keys, I did not really care who was where as long as we figured out a an adult in each room, so even though to keep the monitary side of things straight I would but mom a, mom b and mom c all in the same room on the paperwork, once we got there they got divided into rooms to be chaperons if that makes sense! goodluck!
