To elaborate on my earlier post, here are the videos of the two teams I compared. Our (UA's) Mini 1 team scored a 90.00 on day 1 with the routine below, TI Cheer's Junior 1 scored an 82.46 on the routine below. Not saying the Mini's didn't deserve their score, because they were great and max out Jam scoring. I'm saying the Junior team was scored way too low, by the same set of judges (these teams performed about 30 minutes apart in the same session). Maybe I'm missing something that someone else can point out to explain the inconsistencies.

Honestly as a coach it is important to know the scoring grid of the competition u are attending. Every good lvl 5 coach knows that difficulty is not weighted as high at jam comps, so they would b smart to make their routine cleaner and safer, I'm sure u won't see the same routines displayed at worlds if they know that score sheet as well. Basically I don't understand being "disappointed" with the judging, the scoring grid is public knowledge, everyone has the same opportunity to read it and maximize on in whatever way works best for their team.

i'm very aware of jam score sheets, ive been coaching for 15 years, owned for 7. we been to worlds 5 years in a row , always make it into second day, was top ten last year. i just know by looking who will do well at worlds, it comes with experience. :)

I get that different competitions and different judges may score differently (though 6 points seems a little extreme on the same scoring system). However, the discrepancies within the same session, same level, with the same judges, is completely unacceptable for a major competition.

That's why I'm wondering that even though it was the same session, they were different judges. When you're blowing teams out there every 3 minutes, I cannot imagine it's the same judges scoring every team. It has to be a panel A/panel B type of thing.

Do you have to request to be in the small gym division, do you request to not be in the division, or how does that work? The gym I coach at is very small (40-50 athletes) and there were Small Gym Small Youth 2 and Small Gym Small Junior 2, but our teams were both in the regular Small Youth/Junior 2 divisions. Just curious.

Our Y2, J2, and S4 were placed in those divisions. I think when you register your teams, there's a place where it asks if you're a small gym. Then if there's enough teams to split out, they do.

Thank you! I figured it was up to the gym to indicate that they are a small gym.

so I guess you should say you are disappointed in the jam scoring system, not the way teams were scored this weekend because they were scored accurately according to the brand. I have found that some programs coach/choreograph to jam scoring grid, and those teams will almost aways b more successful at jam comps. For example last year there was a synch score for running tumbling so if ur entire j3 team did round off handspring tuck together u didn't have to do anymore running tumbling in the routine, but ppl not well versed with the system were like we'll they did no speciality or they disn't even have a tumbling section, and couldn't understand why they were outscored. Basically I am not saying u don't know the system (but thanks for ur credentials). I'm saying a lot of ppl saying it was unfair etc don't know the system. Word of advise for everyone, when you go to try and win $25,000 make sure you know every rule and aspect of the game.

You must work for the company.

I actually don't work for the company and I would say the same thing If this was varsity. Some of the teams that did well here would crash and burn on varsity score sheet, but that's why u read, it would be stupid for someone to think they could win NCA without any elite stunting (a category that doesn't exist on jam). I'm just saying ppl should stop making these blanket "they shouldn't have won" statements based on no actual facts

On the topic of scoring, I am talking about teams that we have beat in several divisions literally 2 weekends ago, with the same scoresheets, by large margins and for the other previous competitions. Then coming here and getting beat by them with a deduction free routine. I would understand if this was the case with just a couple teams, because maybe the other teams didn't hit at the other competitions, but it was like this with many divisions.

And I am talking about levels 1-4.

I understand but I don't think there were any blanket statements being said. Maxing out a score sheet is just as important as hitting your routine or else it's a waste of time.

I am just a parent that said I was disappointed and admit that I didn't know that jam scoring wasn't based on difficulty. When I see a team score higher than Green Bay Lime (after they hit) I would expect them to have similar difficulty and cleanliness. In this case it was two different judging panels but still should be somewhat comparable? But, again, I am just a parent and still learning. I have nothing against the team that beat us either. They did an excellent job both days.

Anyone have videos of the other 3 teams in the top five from the small senior? I'm curious of the scoring as well because I know that the top two are world contenders. It almost appears that some teams are guaranteed bids at certain comps. Can someone clarify that for me?

FYI firestorm was 8th and 5 alarm was 9th last year so I wouldn't go as far as to say they aren't "worlds contenders" in less you meant in the running to win in which case I would say they aren't contenders but definitely a recognizable force in the division. Actually they were the only two teams in the division without a bid that placed top 10 last year so it could have been predicted to go to one of them. Not sure why everyone is so shocked, lol--this is not just towards you but in response to a lot of comments.
