justcheerthatisall, OBVIOUSLY you have some involvement with your 9th place worlds "contenders"/paid bid winners of GLCC (where they received their bid last season as well). All of your athletes are talented however, have you compared your senior small routine to others??? That’s why "everyone" is shocked as you say because they all have done comparisons. Please post the video of 5 Alarm as everyone has been requesting. People are not making comments for no reason. Some things just dont add up. Good Luck at Worlds!

As the gym owner of the team in question - 5-Alarm, I find some of the comments in this thread offensive and extremely disappointing (especially given the history we have with some of the thread responders). Like all of the rest of the teams in the division, our children and coaches work extremely hard to understand the scoring rubric and to ensure that our routines are choreographed to score well within the system. It is unfair to the children, the judges and to the company in question to suggest that their success was due to anything other than their successful performances within the established scoring system. Like all things Crimson Heat, our routines are always evolving as the season progresses...a video from an early in the season event does not represent what they will bring to the next. We are extremely thankful to have received the bid, we will continue to focus on making our children the best that they can be and we trust wholeheartedly that whatever is in store for our program - will be. We are definitely looking forward to Worlds 2013! BTW, if anyone has the video - please do post it, we would love to relive the moment...

These videos were already posted and available on Fierceboard. The video of 5Alarm does not show the same routine from GLCC.

actually I have no involvement with 5alarm or any other small sr 5 team at this competition but I was present and I did watch the division. My opinions are based on knowledge of the industry and jam brands, if you truly analyze the scoring system you will know why they received the bid. I guess I'm confused of what u are arguing? They didn't beat ice or gbe who were both undoubtably better so the fact that they beat some "non contenders" as you call them with very little skill means something is not right? Or that glcc somehow is favoring one team over another...

You have gotten very personable with your post. Almost extremely defensive as a level five coach who was just a spectator at GLCC. I’m not arguing anything. I asked a question about teams being guaranteed bids at competition. I would still like to know the answer. You stated that “Every good lvl 5 coach knows that difficulty is not weighted as high at jam comps, so they would b smart to make their routine cleaner and safer” in which this was proven that some teams did just that. But when you compare all the “safe” routines in that division, it does not add up. I never called any teams “non-contenders”. My son has been cheering for 11 years now and so much has changed over the years with scoring. As a spectator and along with others spectators I judge a book by its cover in comparison with score sheets in this sport. At the end of the day, the top 5 were all wonderful.

Ur correct u didn't call any teams non contenders, someone else in this thread did. I haven't taken anything anyone said personally I am just passionately stating my position. I am sure that every kid worked really hard and it's disheartening to have ppl come back and down grade their accomplishment. Anyway I am sure that each of these teams will have a great rest of the season and do great at worlds. Hoping that HEAT Athletics will get their bid really soon as I thought they did a great job this past weekend.

forgot to quote u in my last post. Also never said I was a level 5 coach, or just a spectator at the competition which makes the 3rd assumption u have made about me and my affiliation. I am an UNBIASED party, period.

so I guess you should say you are disappointed in the jam scoring system, not the way teams were scored this weekend because they were scored accurately according to the brand. I have found that some programs coach/choreograph to jam scoring grid, and those teams will almost aways b more successful at jam comps. For example last year there was a synch score for running tumbling so if ur entire j3 team did round off handspring tuck together u didn't have to do anymore running tumbling in the routine, but ppl not well versed with the system were like we'll they did no speciality or they disn't even have a tumbling section, and couldn't understand why they were outscored. Basically I am not saying u don't know the system (but thanks for ur credentials). I'm saying a lot of ppl saying it was unfair etc don't know the system. Word of advise for everyone, when you go to try and win $25,000 make sure you know every rule and aspect of the game.

Yes you are correct, i'm not a fan of Jambrands scoring. And i did know going in that having my boys do two legged unassisted stunts would not max out my majority. But i was taking a chance on being clean rather then getting a deduction.
Thank God Worlds is a different animal.

as a coach from a team that walked home with a paid bid I find it offensive to what some are saying on here and on other social media sites. How is jam brands not based on difficulty. You have to do five plus LTDs to max out in the stunting category? Tumbling, the only teams at that event maxing that out would be lady lightening and Lime. fact- we out beat teams BOTH days at the event. Legality or not the scores are an average of both days. Our kids have worked their butts off to get to the point of going there and hitting a CLEAN routine both days while maxing out in the stunting category and utilizyiing our tumbling to the best that we knew could be thrown and hit both days. So seeing some of these comments is very hard to read when every kid from every gym works their butt off to achieve their goals. Even if our team didn't walk away with the bid we would give complete respect and encouragement to the team that did. as for GLCC I could not be more proud of our athletes going to this event, hitting their routine two days in a row, earning that paid bid, and making a dream of theirs happen. You are entittled to your opinion, but how can you take something away from a gym or team that earned their win and bid. The two teams that walked away deserved it and I give a huge congratulations to Crimson Heat and LX for earning it! Overall, the weekend was great event, I agree with the lower levels scoring, we had the same thing being so much of a difference from super. It was nice seeing so many competitive teams across the board this weekend and looked much better than Super Nationals!

I'm so confused at the direction this thread has taken. The purpose was simply to address the jambrand scoring; the top 5 teams in this division, not one particular team; paid bid information from the EPs and how they are determined or if organizations are guaranteed bids when attending specific events. I don't recall any bashing of any athletes nor teams on this thread and those teams that obtained a paid bid, you should not feel the need to be validated by the fb - I'm certain you earned your wins as the poster "justcheerthatisall" continues to emphasize even though "she" has nothing to do with either of the gyms that obtained the bids. Kudos, Congratulations and Best Wishes at Worlds!
