When you if its suppose to be the best of each level, isnt it still if you do have 4 or 5 crossovers? I mean 4 or 5 kids who are maybe a level ahead in tumbling are not going to make you win? Do you understand what im trying to get at?
5 kids on a small team capped at 20 that recycle tumbling passes 2-3 times will make a difference. Its scoring range math. Especially if they're crossed down to tumble and their technique will score high within that range.

Right, but not all kids from those levels have skills for 5! My gym is a small gym! We only habe 60 athletes! This isnt something to argue over because i dont make the rules, but since we are small we have to use athletes on certain teams even if they dont have the full skill!

" The rule exists to help out small gyms, I have no problem with that but, if gyms start to abuse the rule "because they can", I can see them taking it away eventually."

peytonnmariee You are getting defensive with me and if you look at my quote, I used the word gyms meaning all gyms in general. I used the example of the 2, 4.2 and 5 because, that was what was called out earlier in the thread, I know nothing of your gym other than what was said in the thread. My point was, the rule exists to help out small gyms.

Is your level 2 team small or large? Again, if it is small I understand as a small gym you would need to pull athletes to create a squad of 20. If it is large, then I personally question the integrity. You would have had a sufficient number to create a team of 20, therefore, have no need for crossovers in that circumstance.
I don't know your situation, don't need know but, I can see how this rule could easily be abused to create an unfair advantage.

This sums up my feelings as well. However you can still win with less than 20. My ex-cp's first year in cheer was on a Junior Prep Level 2. Started the season with 14 girls, when it was finally competition time they were down to 11. Two stunt groups. Finished the season winning almost every single comp they went to and came in 2nd out of 22 at Final D. Their tumbling maxed out, their execution was pure perfection. Sometimes you just have to work with what you have. Quality over quantity.

This could probably be a thread in itself (the crossover discussion). I have little (really no) problem with a lower level athlete crossing over to a higher team (they probably won't add much to the score sheet besides helping stunts hit). I do have a problem with higher levels crossing over to lower levels. As I said before I hate using crossovers. I've done it once in the past 3 years and a level 3/4 crossed over to a level 1. It was the day of the comp. She didn't tumble, jump, dance, or do any motions. She literally stood on the side of the floor and walked in, did a stunt, then walked back until the next stunt. That's just me though. Other people/coaches/gyms do what they want with crossovers.

I wasnt getting defensive, I was just using my gym because i know we have crossovers! I wasnt saying you said my gym! I was actually just using an example! :)

Love that!!!!!!! We can't wait to get there!!!!

That ring looks ridiculously big....maybe it's just the pic though. Good luck to all the teams who have (or end up getting) a bid!! It should be an interesting competition.

Educate me please... I have seen "Junior Prep Level __" once or twice before and I have never inquired as to what that is exactly. Is that All Star? Rec? HS?
That's pretty incredible to have a team of 11 that was able to win, kudos to her team!

I *think* Junior Prep is what is now called Youth. I only think this because when cp was on Youth 2, a guy said to us "Our Junior prep team is competing against you". Plus youth is the next step down from junior, hence "prep"

Looks like we'll be taking two teams! Been to Worlds and hope it is similar for my youngest. She was more excited about getting a bid to this than actually winning NCA!
