Was so happy to hear that Steele got a bid! Even though I was a little confused that Smoex didn't get at least an at large.

But to the Maryland Twisters kids on twitter last night, I know you're upset, but there is no need to turn those feelings into anger and say hurtful things about another team. If you don't hit both days, you don't win or get the bid. Complaining bitterly doesn't get you to Worlds.

Sorry for that tiny rant, but I have friends on the team and a girl I've cheered with for a very long time so to see people saying such nasty things just pushed a lot of my buttons.

Smoex already had an at large bid. Got it in December.

Well said. I don't follow many "kids" on twitter especially ones I haven't met personally so I really didn't see all the drama, but I follow one rather popular individual who posted up (just about the time I posted here that Steel won) and I was disheartened to see it. I'm sure it went south from there.

4 of the steel kids came from our gym this year so I know them personally and they're special to me. one is like my own son. I am just so happy for them!

I am completely confident reign (with their amazing performance yesterday) will get a full paid this weekend if they hit the same way and all this will be for nothing, I just hate that it threw a post BATC gray cloud over their program. I also wish these kids would realize when you're tweeting like that, you're representing your gym and that may not be the kind of PR they want :(

There's always grey clouds when it reigns. Just saying lol.

Someone might want to forward that stuff on over to the 'proper authorities'. It's actually really easy to find, and I'm not even following any cheerleaders (I follow Rays and CA, and only because twitter made me). I understand you're upset, but you had to know going in that if you have a rough day 1, you need a heck of a lot to come over day 2. I saw A scoresheet (don't know if it's the right one). Their opponent hit both days, and the score was basically the same both days. While that can breed disappointment, the lack of sportsmanship isn't a good reflection of what seems to be a generally well-run program. And if you're THIS upset at Battle, what the heck would you be saying if this happened at Worlds??!

Yeah, after that post I went to look around a bit and its all there. It's not hard to find. I know how they feel, it's hard to KILL a routine and not be able to overcome the little details you missed on the other days. If Steel hadn't killed theirs on Sunday they probably would've swapped, but one team hit twice and one hit once. It's the story of my kids cheer career. They had a total of three mistakes at CHEERSPORT and it was the difference in first ... And seventh. It hurts, I know it does, but take that as your momentum into Dallas and turn it positive ;)

And it seemed pretty widespread, I'd be surprised if the authorities in their gym didn't know about it already.

I think the problem comes in when the word "deserves" gets tossed around. If every team at Battle that deserved a bid got a bid, every team at battle would've gotten a bid. Every kid there had worked their butt off. But it comes down to those 2 1/2 minutes on the mat.

That being said, I was confused with some of the scoring over the weekend. At times the scores were the complete opposite of what we expected. I saw teams that fell apart Sunday move up in the ranks, scores for the better of the 2 days performance be lower than the lesser performance, and other things that didn't make sense. And this was in both halls, many different divisions.

In the interest of not sounding like I'm complaining, my daughters team scored higher on Sunday with multiple dropped stunts and a way less clean routine than they did on Saturday when just about everything went as planned.

senior elite's video, anyone? day 2?
Posted this in another thread: doubtful you'll see one. If the performance was as bad as described, some people who videoed might be holding it back out of respect. It's not something you want circulating the net the week before NCA.

This situation makes me just want to take a megaphone and stand up in front of the cheer world and remind them that no matter how much you complain, you can't change the results of the competition the day after. So move on and focus on the rest of your season. Stop dwelling on one thing.
