You are the classiest team I have seen in a long time - I am sure your athletes and coaches are devastated by an honest mistake, but your grace and dignity as well as that of your athletes should be commended - we can ALL learn from you.
Literally the most humble and welcoming gym - I am from NH and my best friend was on USA Wildcats pretty much his whole life and I went to a couple competitions when I cheered and when he would go down to the front to watch his teams I went down with him and I literally felt like I was a part of the gym for a day and I was like wow, can I just move to CT ?

I would disagree about blame placing. It was a mistake. Rules are rules, and that's why Coastal made the decision they did. Only fair way to go, as if they they created an exception it would create a bad precedent. However, this woman going to the judges clearly had nothing but hate in her heart. She probably didn't even know for sure what was or wasn't on roster, but hoped for a mistake. The end result of all of this being hurt to not only gym owners and parents, but children. IMO it's unconscionable. It would be one thing if she knew the girl was 21 or some other purposeful legality, but that was not the case. I am not in any way affiliated, but this type of poor sportsmanship makes me so angry.

But, you are saying that although it's a rule and you are glad it was enforced, it's still not ok that THIS person turned them in because of her intentions? These are the things I don't understand... Although she appears to have done it out of spite (totally based on what was said here) it doesn't matter. You can't be happy that a rule is enforced, but also angry at people who are turning in rule breakers. You cannot let intentions (good or bad) get in the way of black and white rules.

And again, kudos to USA for saying "hey, our fault, we'll try again this weekend". They are being great and this is not against them. It's just a major issue in our industry because we all feel one way or another about gyms/situations... If it's who we like, then poor them. If it's someone we don't like, well they got what they deserve. If you want legit rules that are enforced, you can't pick and choose.

I think it's also relative to the rule broken. The athlete was legal to compete in that division, it was basically a clerical error. I don't know if I'd call it a rule break so much as a procedural thing (unlike illegal age subs). Kinda like the difference between a performance error and an illegal move.

I don't think anyone feels anything but sorry for USA Wildcats. We're not here shouting "Ha, it's your fault, good thing you got turned in, suckers!" But at the end of the day, they had a person on the floor who wasn't rostered, and that blame falls solely on the them, not the person who turned them in, regardless of her intentions.

I always root for New England teams, and I'm really sorry for them that they lost their bid. This isn't anything against them, but I'll say the same thing I said in the thread about PCM - accidents happen, but it's never the fault of the person who pointed out the error.

thank you. we understand that even though it was an unintentional mistake, there are rules to be followed. it was just hard telling those 20 kids tonight. they were pretty much devestated. but they will just come back strong and try again this weekend.
Good Luck in Dalls, we will be cheering you on on getting that paid bid. LUV U!

As an athlete on USA Wildcats Senior Elite, I want to say thank you to everyone who is supporting us. My team and I really appreciate it. Of course we were devastated tonight when we heard the news, but after feeling the love this industry has for us, we decided to turn that frustration and hurt into motivation going into NCA this weekend. We cannot wait to step foot on the mat in the arena and put on a show for everyone!!! Thanks again!

We would also like to congratulate Cheer Extreme Smoex on their bid! They are truly an amazing team who has been nothing but encouraging towards us since the news broke.
Ok, you just made me cry!!!! I am work and my mascara is running down my face. Personally I know most of the team members and coaches, my daughter cheered up until last year on the level 3 team, and if anyone can pull this off and use these experience as a positive is this team. I love each and everyone of you, stay classy and go do your thing in Dallas.;)

no we didn't. it was an honest mistake. and all of us at usa wildcats want to congratulate cea smoex on getting the bid. they are an amazing team and deserve it! we will try again this weekend in Dallas.
So sorry that happened to you. In the midst of this, you are such a great example of integrity as you accept responsibility for what happened AND congratulate CEA AND show your kids how to press on and try again. So congratulations for knowing how to respond in a way that allows the athletes in your program to learn how to win and lose with dignity and grace, and for being a positive example to so many who are watching your response to adversity from afar. Thank you for getting that part right.

Thank you all for the kind words. I coach at USA Wildcats and as Coach12 said before we FULLY understand that rules are rules and we are the only ones to blame, it was our mistake. With the stress of an injury, and Wes Haley coming in 2 days before to give Elite a completely new routine there was a lot of stress on the team and coach (still not an excuse, but we are all human things slip and we forget things). However we did NOT cheat or lie to get that bid. Every kid was age eligible, and every kid is a member of our gym!! We did not call anyone to come be on our team or put someone to young or old on the team. If you knew the background story you would fully understand that what was done to us was done completely out of spite towards our gym. If you where going it to play by the rules why wait until 5 minutes after our paid bid was rewarded to make the call? You could have called days earlier. Again it shouldn't matter what team this happens to rules MUST be followed and we have ALWAYS followed them. This was a one time mistake (a huge $25,000 honest mistake) one that we will be sure not to happen again. We are upset yes, very much so but definitely not mad at the people who took our bid away we get it however we are mad at how it went down. Trying to make a gym who has always been and will always be a class act look bad is terrible karma in my opinion. Thank you again for believing in our integrity and that we are ALL human and make mistakes.

I'm not saying I am glad it was enforced, just that as a competition company Coastal/Jam Brands had no other choice. I DO, however, have issue with how it was brought to their attention. If she was "illegal" and USA Wildcats was trying to pull the wool over someone's eyes - sure. But she was just banking on a mistake.
