through this whole situation, i can say that i have gained so much respect for both CEA and USA. CEA is being nothing but supportive of USA. ive seen cap tweet that CEA will be their biggest fans in Dallas, and so many #smoeXlovesusawildcats tweets. I really feel for USA, and i PERSONALLY feel that it wasn't the nicest thing for the old coach to do, but havent seen one USA athlete put the blame elsewhere. They have taken 100% responsibilty, and that takes courage. Both teams will do amazing this weekend, and i believe USA will get another paid bid. :)

I'm not saying I am glad it was enforced, just that as a competition company Coastal/Jam Brands had no other choice. I DO, however, have issue with how it was brought to their attention. If she was "illegal" and USA Wildcats was trying to pull the wool over someone's eyes - sure. But she was just banking on a mistake.
The fact that this error was discovered in an attempt to malign the gym is horrific. I cannot imagine how those children must have reacted after receiving that news. I agree it was USA's clerical error and they have to live with it. It appears that they are not disputing it. I'm new to this sport so I'm curious if the other world bid contenders had each of their athletes checked to make sure they were all on the roster. Do they quiz the kids on their names before they take the mat? Is it possible that other gyms have had this happen? I really hope that USA Wildcats was not the only team's paperwork that was scrutinized simply because of a particular gym owner's vendetta. Although in retrospect I would NEVER want this to happen to another team. Dot your "i's" and cross your "t's" everyone.

Some people may lost their respect for USA wildcats after this weekend but they got my respect! The way this gym is handling this situation is incredible. And the fact they confessed that it was their mistake, they just showed how good and professional this gym is!
They got my respect! And I will one of their biggest supporter on fierceboard this weekend.

I've known coach12 for A LOT of years and how she and her gym are handling this doesn't surprise me in the least. She's always conducted herself this way and USA will get through this and hopefully win a bid at NCA! Safe practices and travel's to your teams this week heading down to Dallas. Can't wait to cheer them on!!!

Lose respect, seriously? This was in no way an attempt to pull the wool over anyone's eyes by using an age ineligible athlete or stealing an athlete from a competing gym. This girl voluntarily left her old gym, was placed on a lower level team at USA and only when an injury occurred was she offered the chance to fill in temporarily. In panic mode it is easy to overlook something such as a roster substitution.

This is why I said MAY lost. Because I wasn't sure if there was anyone who lost respect for them. Maybe I chose wrong words and you didn't understand me what I want to tell.

As I stated previously we know that at the end of the day a rule was broken and coastal and the usasf had to do what they did. We just wanted everyone to know that nothing intentional was done. It was a mistake and we have accepted responsibility for the mistake.
Didn't you guys have an at large bid previous to this weekend? if so do you still have that at large bid even after all this? Just curious.

definitely misread on my part. I read MAY but understood it as HAVE. But still, lose respect for an error like this is ridiculous. There are bigger issues to worry about in this industry.

its like the pcm situation all over again..

I don't think our situation is like what happened to PCM. The girl was of age to be on the team. It was just an honest mistake that she wasn't on our roster. I feel like if you have a kid that is not of age on your team you are trying to hide that and you know it's against the rules. We weren't trying to hide that this girl was on our team (you can clearly see if you look at her twitter it was all over that she was on the team) it's not like we took someone who is a superstar to up our chances to get a bid. She had less tumbling than the girl that she was filling in for actually. We needed a fill in last minute and it worked out that this girl came to our gym. She was the only one that had close to the same tumbling as the injured girl. If we didn't use her we would have had to use someone else with alot less skill from our gym.

I feel like alot of teams have had people on their team that are not on their roster. How many times have you seen people have injuries the first day of a competition and have to use a fill in for the second day. I'm sure the fill in probably in most cases wasn't on the roster. It was an honest mistake that we know was against the rules. We were all more upset with how it was brought up. It was done maliciously to hurt our gym.

Well move on from this. We're all praying we can get the bid in Dallas. We know its going to be hard but were not giving up hope. If not well figure something else out. We will go to worlds.

You chose the classy way to respond Leelee...me, not so classy. With that being said, the girl that was put in due to the injury left her former gym a few weeks earlier...she was a solid level 5 athlete but the team had no openings, nor did the level 4 team...Coach Leelee happily welcomed her onto her large level 3 team. Due to an injury on the small coed team, this girl was asked to fill in last minute...during all this, the team was redoing the routine and learning a new dance...things were crazy...over site of a stressed gym owner/ coach and the name was left off the roster. Now in comes the owner of the gym where the new girl just left, sees her onstage with her new gym...knowingly she wasn't put on the level 5 team and makes the call which ultimately led to revoking the bid....devastating the team, parents ,coaches. I'm not even affilated with the gym any more but have friends there and am sick over this....just be sure to dot you i's and cross your t's because there are always nasty people out there trying to take you down...sad.
I am really sorry for all of these kids. Was the bid taken because the girl's old gym didn't provide a release? If it was a last minute roster change that happens all the time in warm-ups and I can't imagine coaches have time to fill out paperwork for that, so a bid taken for that seems ridiculous and really sad. Either way it is really too bad for the kids.

She didn't need a release because she wasn't a level 5 athlete at that gym. The roster change is what made the team Ineligible. It must be patrolled more heavily when Worlds bids are on the line.

nono sorry you took it the wrong way! i didnt mean the situation was like pcm, i meant the reactions were. when the pcm thing happened, a lot of people were saying it was wrong how the other team brought it up, and many people argued and blamed pcm. the same thing was happening here! if the coach did it to hurt your gym, i say thats shady. but many people will disagree and say it isnt her fault at all. i dont think you tried to get an advantage at all, i think your team made an honest mistake, and i felt the same way about pcm! again, i didnt mean the situation was the same, i meant the arguement over "who's in the wrong" is similar. you have tons of people behind you that believe you can get another paid bid! good luck :)
