Yes we still have an at large. However the devastation on the kids face after finding out the paid bid they worked so hard for was taken away was devastating. They now want that paid bid more now then they did before!!!
Im glad that they still have that at large and are so determined! I'll be rooting for them to get one at NCA. I have always had a lot of respect for USA throughout my whole cheer carrer. I live in CT and use to cheer at Spirit (Im too old now :() and have always loved the sportsmanship that you guys show. Your teams bring great competition and are growing so quickly! Its great to see teams from CT becoming so successful!

I am really sorry for all of these kids. Was the bid taken because the girl's old gym didn't provide a release? If it was a last minute roster change that happens all the time in warm-ups and I can't imagine coaches have time to fill out paperwork for that, so a bid taken for that seems ridiculous and really sad. Either way it is really too bad for the kids.
You only need a release to compete AT worlds, not at any competition preceding it.

Thank you all for the kind words. I coach at USA Wildcats and as Coach12 said before we FULLY understand that rules are rules and we are the only ones to blame, it was our mistake. With the stress of an injury, and Wes Haley coming in 2 days before to give Elite a completely new routine there was a lot of stress on the team and coach (still not an excuse, but we are all human things slip and we forget things). However we did NOT cheat or lie to get that bid. Every kid was age eligible, and every kid is a member of our gym!! We did not call anyone to come be on our team or put someone to young or old on the team. If you knew the background story you would fully understand that what was done to us was done completely out of spite towards our gym. If you where going it to play by the rules why wait until 5 minutes after our paid bid was rewarded to make the call? You could have called days earlier. Again it shouldn't matter what team this happens to rules MUST be followed and we have ALWAYS followed them. This was a one time mistake (a huge $25,000 honest mistake) one that we will be sure not to happen again. We are upset yes, very much so but definitely not mad at the people who took our bid away we get it however we are mad at how it went down. Trying to make a gym who has always been and will always be a class act look bad is terrible karma in my opinion. Thank you again for believing in our integrity and that we are ALL human and make mistakes.

I totally appreciate how well you all have responded and I am not judging either side of this just a question I had after reading your post because I am a parent not coach or gym owner. How could that person call days earlier? Is there a deadline date for the roster? I guess I don't understand how this person would even know that the CP in question was not listed on your roster until after the fact. Again just trying to understand how if it was a last minute mistake and that someone called on it after how could they have called days earlier or known you all were not listing the CP on roster. It wasn't confused until I saw this post for some reason.

EDIT: THINK I GET IT...MAYBE??? They saw athlete and knew they had not signed a release so that is what made her ineligible??? Sorry just trying to understand because i thought it was because she was not on the roster not a release... will be cheering USA Wildcats on in Dallas

She wasn't going to compete at worlds with us. It was just for this one competition. I knew an athlete had to be released for worlds but I didn't think that they had to be released to compete at a regular competition.

"UPDATED: All athletes participating on a team at The 2013 Worlds must be a registered member of that team’s gym during the 2012 – 2013 competition season. Any athlete that has competed on the floor with a team in any level from a gym (Primary Gym), during the Worlds competition season (November 1, 2012 – May 1, 2013), will have to have a USASF Gym Release Waiver signed by the owner of that gym (Primary Gym) before that athlete is eligible to compete with another gym (Secondary Gym) at The 2013 Cheerleading Worlds. The USASF Gym Release Waiver is located on the USASF.NET website."

Or is that only in regards to actually competing at worlds??? Ugh this stuff is so confusing!!

If the girl was in question they could have called after day one and we would never have been granted the bid and this wouldn't of happened. She knew the girl was competing with us, it was all over twitter. I believe she Waited until we got the paid bid to say something about her just to do it out if spite so they would have to take back the bid. Unfortunately for us we did make a mistake. That's what I meant by that

See how the bottom line just says AT the 2013 cheerleading worlds. It's just for worlds. You can use someone at other comps. without a release. We never had any intention on using her at worlds knowing very well she would not be released!

She didn't need a release for BATC...only needed one for Worlds

I think they where hoping for a mistake and we made one. She wasn't on the roster. She didn't need a release because she is not competing at worlds with us

It is a shame that a clerical error and what seems to be an angry ex-coach/gym owner was the cause of Wildcats to lose their paid bid. The way that the coaches and athleletes are handling this situation on this board is to be commended. I hope the team takes this disappointment and turns it into a postive to go out there this weekend to earn another full paid bid. While my daughter's CEA team won't be in Dallas, we will be rooting for you! GOOD LUCK!!

I am so sorry that happened. Do all the coaches have access to the rosters so she could see she was not on it or just took a shot in the dark. Like I said will be going to Dallas this weekend and cheering you all on for the paid bid! Go for it - and carry that energy all the way to WORLDS!!!
