I don't think Oklahoma State's Small Coed is a club team. I believe they cheer for women's basketball as well as home football games.

they cheer for SOME womens basketball games. But they have NEVER cheerd at a football game. The coach has tried to get them cleared to do so but it has never gone through. just to clear that up.

Each school is different as far as what is required to become a rec sport, but here's some examples of schools with club cheer that may help give an idea of the things your university may ask of you:
- NC State Club Sports: http://ncsu.edu/stud_affairs/campus_rec/club-sports/club-info/start-club.php
-Texas A&M Rec Sports: http://recsports.tamu.edu/programs/sport_clubs/becoming_a_club.stm
- James Madison Rec Sports: http://www.jmu.edu/recreation/Programs/SportClubs/startclub.html

Go in prepared. Look up on your university's club sports website the sports club manual, any procedures that club sports have to go through for tryouts/competitions/traveling/safety, etc. so if they ask you about something you can respond with some knowledge of how club sports work. The more knowledge you have, the easier it will be to respond with good answers!

Also, make sure there is at least a good chunk of interest in the program. While you and your friend may want to start this up, that's only 2 people....... NCA teams consist of 15-20. You don't need anyone pledging their allegiance or anything crazy, but if your admin asks for the number interested you will want to have an answer (preferably 10 or more interested upper classmen with the possibility of gaining incoming freshmen in the fall).

That's another thing just to bring up as well about tryouts..... Typically university sponsored game day teams have tryouts in spring with incoming freshmen still finishing out their last month of high school. Club Sports however usually have to wait to recruit people for tryouts in fall, after everyone is already at campus.

I was wondering if anyone on here knew some more about colleges that have club cheerleading squads? Me and my friend are looking into starting one at our college, Appalachian State here in North Carolina, but wanted to find more information out first about other college club squads.
I know this thread is old, but did you end up starting this team? Just curious because App state is my top choice for college and ill be there in a year and a half hopefully!

Bridgewater State University's cheer team is a club sport. They're a student run organization that was started years and years ago by students. I was the president for two years so if you have any specific questions feel free to ask me!

East Carolina's club team is just like the above post- a student run organization. They compete. Actually, if you were at the NCAAA (or whatever) comp before KOTJ, they exhibitioned during it. Student run, volunteer allstar coaches. They are going to Daytona this year.
