Ok so I'm in a conundrum lol

I need an ankle brace with moderate stability but not too bulky because my backspot needs to be able to have a good grip too.

I used to use the donjoy velocity but that was for a LOT of support and it's too bulky to fly in.

I tried taping, the ASO brace still allows too much side to side movement, and KT Tape didn't do anything either and wouldn't even stay on when I tried the pro KT tape.

I have really weak ankles and flew in the ASO on either and sometimes both ankles for years and always loved it. Is the side to side rolling in stunts or tumbling or just walking? And does it roll out or in? Have you tried changing where you cross the long straps around your ankle? like moving it higher or lower to give support in different places (sorry if that doesn't make sense I can't verbalize what I'm imagining!). They also make an ASO with plastic inserts that might be something to look into for extra stability

Maybe I'll try the one with plastic inserts..My ankle pronates (so inward rolling) and it pronates in both tumbling and stunting and sometimes when I walk too haha. I broke my ankle 2 years ago but they told me it was just a sprain so I sucked it up and competed a week later (was a cross over so 2 run troughs for both teams in one day). So needless to say I made it SO much worse. I kept insisting there was something wrong...I broke it in november and they didn't tell me until may that it was broken..-_-

I tried the regular and Pro unfortunately... I got the regular and then it wasn't sticking so KT sent me samples of the pro to try out so I didn't have to purchase it first and it still didn't stay on. I dunno if it's because because of my backspot sweating possible or what but it won't stay on for more than half an hour of stunting

Little wears the criss-cross ASO, but only flies in coed stunts now, so I'm not sure if that would offer the flexibility you would need. Another thing you might also consider is shoe inserts (custom orthotics) to correct the pronation.

My ankle did the same thing and I totally agree with the shoe inserts. Also go to Physical Therapy and learn how to strengthen the muscles that are damaged. At the end of the day it won't get any better unless you re-teach it how to stand. As hard as it sounds you also have to stop wearing junky shoes. Flip flops, toms, and uggs are all horrible for rebuilding ankle stability and will lead to another injury.

I actually did do phyiso! :/ I was going 3x a week for regular phyiso/active release for all the scarring I have and it didn't do a thing to help. Maybe I need to find another doctor and get a 2nd opinion about whether the scar tissue needs to be broken up another way or something
