I am locking this thread. I was contacted by the gym and the original poster. This was created to stir up trouble.

Im not sure what the right answer would be but that seems realllly risky for them to even do this...

There is a local team that is sending 2 teams to worlds. One to cheer and one to dance.Rules of USASF says that you can't cross over at all.. I know FOR SURE that this gym has half the cheerleaders competing on the dance team and plans to keep it that way. I want to let it go, but this gym has also used underaged cheerleaders to make it to worlds and lied about their ages. Should I tell someone or just let it go and hope they get caught?
You should tell someone. People complain about cheating all of the time, but hardly anyone ever turns anyone in.

Is competing with a cheer and a dance team doing cross-over at Worlds? I do not know really much about cross-over rules, because we don´t have cross-overs here at all. But i think that you can go with a cheer and a dance team from your gym to regionals/nationals here in Germany (not sure).
If it is illegal at worlds, tell someone. Cheating is never okay.

Yeah I would double check if that is truly a cross over. I don't think it is - per a search of USASF.
  • CROSSOVERS
An individual will not be permitted to crossover from one program to another within the same event (Exception: An athlete from one gym may crossover to one additional gym’s Level 6 team provided (s)he meets the age requirement. For the 2012-13 season, an all-star cheerleader is limited to crossing over to 2 (two) additional cheer teams from their gym per competition. Therefore, an athlete may compete on one team and crossover to two more teams from the same gym during the competition. An event producer may choose to be more restrictive than the rules above for crossovers limiting the number of teams an athlete may crossover to further; however an event producer may not be less restrictive than this. Crossover limitations above do not include athletes that crossover from cheer to dance.

I think its different for Worlds though. Regular competitions can have crossovers from cheer to dance and vice versa but our old program has sent a cheer and dance team to Worlds for the past 5 years and its always an issue at tryouts because you can't have the same athlete on both cheer and dance for worlds. It doesn't matter during the season so I would make sure they aren't going to substitute those athletes at the last minute with eligible athletes.

She mentions they plan to keep it that way.

Umm, but the OP also mentioned underage athletes...which in and of itself is worth reporting without waiting to see if they change the roster for cheer/dance.

I would agree with you on the underage athletes. I read the thread this morning and forgot to review the original post before responding.

yeah but the use of underage athletes is still illegal right?

From the 2013 Worlds package:
Crossovers
At The Cheerleading Worlds, crossovers of participants between
teams from the same gym are NOT permitted. In other words, a
participant can only compete on one team from a gym/program.
Crossovers of participants from other gyms will not be permitted.
Crossovers of participants between cheer and dance teams from the
same or other gyms are not permitted.
In other words, a performer may represent only one gym in either
cheer or dance.
If a team is found to have made an improper substitution or alternate, this team:
• Will be disqualified.
• May be responsible for repaying the total cost of any funds
received through a “Paid” or “Partial Paid” bid.
• May be prevented (along with the entire program from that
gym) from being eligible for any type of bid to The
Cheerleading or Dance Worlds for the following year
